Hi teammates,

You guys have some super creative shop names that I love, but I often find myself wondering what the story behind them is. What do you like about your shop name? How does it relate to your business? Is there a funny anecdote behind it? Is it a pun? Is it a tribute to someone special to you? Did you have a different name before switching to your current one? How do you think customers interpret your name?

I'll go first. I got the name Sassafras from a good friend of mine who always called me Sassafras when I said anything that was a little snarky. I also have a passion for botany, so a plant name just felt like a perfect fit for me.

Now it's your turn. Share your stories and thoughts in this thread!

Re: What's the story behind your shop name?

The story behind my shop name is just as is says. I build custom high end cabinets and furniture for museums around the world. Standing at my work bench I would daydream about making signs. The rest is history!

I love the wonderful stories here.

My beautiful greyhound Lilly brought me so much happiness. She was the most wonderful giving soul you could ever know! She passed away due to complications with cancer and I wanted to make sure she was part of every single day. I will never forget her!

My store is based on my grandmother. She used to love wearing gemstone earrings and they looked so magical on her . I feel close to her when I make jewelry even though she is in heaven <3

Re: What's the story behind your shop name?

I would like to introduce myself as a new team member to TeamKitsch. My shop name is derived from a couple things....I choose to be positive so if I am having a tough time I just dig a little deeper (some days real deep) for that positive and choose to have a brighter day. My favorite flower is a daisy. I married the three into "Brightdaisydays".

Re: What's the story behind your shop name?

My shop name is because firstly my name is Jannie and the attic in our 1930 home is where my Etsy Shop thrives with good light for photos, storage for all my treasures for my shop and a quiet space to list my items in peace. It is a attic with an amazing view of mountains and a huge lake which inspires me each and every day.

Re: What's the story behind your shop name?

My shop name is kind of about a time and place. 167 is the number of my first house. I lived there for 15 years, just sold it and moved a year and a half ago. Sidewalk because it wasn't until I started doing sidewalk chalk drawings on my walk (about 7 years in) that our neighborhood started feeling like a friendly place.

Suddenly, people who'd walked by before and avoided eye contact were smiling and starting up conversations. One day, when I was out drawing, two of the most adorable kids I'd ever seen stopped to talk. They were brothers--12 and 14. In the next few years, they (and their friends) became family to me and my partner--Mark. We were especially close with the older brother. He and I made lots of art together, and he and Mark made music.

Then suddenly, just a couple of months after his 18th birthday, there was a freak accident and he died. I can't tell you what that did to me. I couldn't make art for two years. When I finally started making it again, it wasn't the abstract work I'd focused on for years in my studio practice. Instead I painted fun, goofy characters like I'd drawn on the sidewalk. It seemed like a good place to start because maybe it would make people smile like the sidewalk stuff did. And maybe it could be another positive beginning.

Yeah so that's where my shop name came from.

Re: What's the story behind your shop name?

My shop's name is derived form a nickname I got during a very special time in my life. 5 years ago I did a semester abroad, and studied in Ireland (Limerick) . During these 4 months I discovered what it is like to be a stranger in a new country. but also to rely on myself. It has made me grow as a person and I felt more confident and mature when I returned. During these months I discovered that no matter where I am, I am able to make new friends. 2 of these friends have become very dear to me and even joined me for my wedding last August.

One of these wonderful girls asked in Ireland if she could call me Liz. Nobody had even called me Liz before, but I liked it :) eversince, close friends and family have called me Liz (but I have to really really like you to tell you to call me Liz ;)

Since every item in my shop is made by me with lots of love and care, it seemed logical to call my shop: With Love From Liz.

Dear Patient Team;
I'm back, for good! I've been gone for so long, most of you probably don't even know who I am. Life takes its twists and turns, but I'm a survivor. Even in my absence, just knowing etsy and my team was always there, was like an anchor for my soul!
RedemptionArt is just what it says, art, collectibles, craft supplies, all redeemed, all repurposed, even down to my shipping products.
Growing up in such a fragile infrastructure, repurposing has always been an intuitive thing for me.
Thank you-mahalo and Aloha for being my team!

Re: What's the story behind your shop name?

I have been antiquing for the last 30-35 years and developed a network of friendships along the way. Going to Estate sales and frequenting antique shops I could always come up with a gem that no one else recognized.
Someone in the group started calling me Style Junkie.

Re: What's the story behind your shop name?

Hello, my name is Maria and I would like you to know a little more about me.
I spent the first six years of my life in a town up in the highlands of the beautiful Peruvian Andes and as a child I got to witness how harsh the life of poor children can be; children with no shoes but that kept a bright smile on their faces and innocence in their eyes. They left a lasting impression on me and the burning desire of someday helping them and people like them in spite of the different directions in which life could take me. My venture with this website is part of this and so much more than just an on-line business.
My Mission is to empower women and people to go after their dreams no matter how old they are or the disabilities they may have.

A side project for me is that I wish to ignite and inspire people to help children and other humans in need of shoes.
“I believe every human being should have the dignity to wear their own shoes.”

Re: What's the story behind your shop name?

Since a very young girl I liked and i love sewing, knitting, embroidery everything related to the fashion. I made a list of several names and finally I choose this one " Really Exclusive", because I really try that all my designs are exclusivenesses, I believe that it has been a good election. I am very satisfied with the name since it represents what I should like to convey to my customers.

Re: What's the story behind your shop name?

It's all in the name. You try to say it all in a few words. Words that paint a visual of what you are about. As for me it's the first thing that comes to mind. Cattle and barbed wire! The name just came to me and I think it says it all. Thank you for reading my post and for Itsy............. Thank you!

Re: What's the story behind your shop name?

Its the initials of my sister & my names, just backwards :) -

So, Surinder Kaur Marbha -> msk
and Sarbjeet Kaur Wariah -> wsk

when put together, we felt it sounded fun and kinda different!

What is unique too is our partnership - she and I are close to 10 years apart in age, and pretty much live across the world from each other - but we can feel each others heartbeats! Yes, I love her and she me :)

Re: What's the story behind your shop name?

Loving this topic. I am just getting into teams and this one seemed like the ONE to join! I decided to take on the name Claudia's Closet Co. to carry on the name of my moms craft store that she owned before I, "Claudia," was born!! My mom is the one who taught me most of what I know about creating and decorating and I think it's amazing that she named me after having her own shop when she was younger. It inspires me to keep growing and creating! I am so new to this and would love your support so please feel free to check out my shop! <3
