What's the story behind your shop name?

Hi teammates,

You guys have some super creative shop names that I love, but I often find myself wondering what the story behind them is. What do you like about your shop name? How does it relate to your business? Is there a funny anecdote behind it? Is it a pun? Is it a tribute to someone special to you? Did you have a different name before switching to your current one? How do you think customers interpret your name?

I'll go first. I got the name Sassafras from a good friend of mine who always called me Sassafras when I said anything that was a little snarky. I also have a passion for botany, so a plant name just felt like a perfect fit for me.

Hey y'all! My name has a meaning to it! It's my great grandmothers' name. She taught me how to make soap. I hold it very close to me because it's one of the sweetest memories I have of her.

"fourfouri" is the Greek word for "pinwheel".
The first time someone asked me to make something for him was a friend of mine and he asked for a little pinwheel from polymer clay. He wanted to make it a gift to his friend. I listened to the story behind this friendship and I loved it.
This was my first creation.

Hello All!

Silver Rova Design is named after the street where we live. But the story is actually more then just that. In Dec 2015 my wife and I had a catastrophic house fire resulting a total loss of the house and items inside. For the last year and a half we have been rebuilding back to what it once was. We would out that all of the wood was being thrown right into the local dump. Some of it was not affected by the fire or smoke but still was destined to the dump. My wife and I started using that wood to make into art. Our first pieces were from our actual house! Anyways now we have moved back in and started using any reclaimed wood we can find locally. From the ashes Silver Rova has risen!

Before my Etsy shop opened, I had a few names floating around in my head, but none of them stuck until I looked closer to home. I live relatively close to a river with a view; this is where I make all of the things that I list for sale in my shop. It was my daughter-in-law who made up the jingle that is added to my shop name, which really sums it all up beautifully. I love it!

My mom was a math high school teacher who had just started at a new school. She had to go to get a picture done at the school board one day and left for hours. When she returned, there was a grin on her face and she bursted out laughing. I asked her what was so funny and she said they messed up her ID badge.
She showed me her new ID badge from the school board and instead of saying "Cara Lynn", it stated, "Cora Lynn". Hence the name Cora Lynn Collections.

My shop name is Ms. CraftBee -- I wanted to have a shop name related to crafts and sewing. My married last name starts with a B, and Craft-Bee is a pun for Crafty. Ms. Crafty. I really liked the Ms. in front of it as well. When I came up with it, it clicked and I loved it!

Umka is our cat's name, she is really so special for our family having been with us since the very beginning of our family actually. Besides, Umka is both smart and playful. As we make toys which are for both fun and learning, I thought Umka is a good symbol for this :)

Love reading all of these! My shop name came from a love of everything ocean/beach themed. And from my general distractedness lol. I sometimes feel like I backed myself into a corner with a theme. I make candles and I like to keep the names within my theme and certain scents are really hard to thing of "under water" themed names. But it's also really fun when I do find a name for a candle and I think it gives me that unique twist and helps me stand out from other candlemakers on Etsy. I'm also thinking about branching into bath products which will fit right in with the name!

hi All, Great question. I was clearing out closets and found a box of beads and gems from when my daughter and I made jewelry for her favorite teachers. So I decided to make some headbands for her and soldl at her school boutique. Everyone asked me if I was on Etsy so I checked it out. I'm a pastel artist and have trouble painting at times because of a car accident injury, so making jewelry became a good creative outlet and I sell my jewelry on several online sites and exhibit at events. I decided on Loft so I could include jewelry, headbands and my artwork which I will be adding to my Etsy shop. Thanks for reading:)

One of my favorite songs is Arabella by Artic Monkeys , so I thought about that as a name , then I looked up the definition of Arabella and it means beautiful , Perfect, the name of my photography shop : Arabella Photography means beautiful Photography .

I had it clear since the very beginning, Kalā mean art in sanskrit, while a trip in south India some years ago, I met a sage that gave me that name, so when I thought of opening a shop for my creations, it suited perfect.
Of course it was taken, and slowly developed into KalāArtStudio, which sounds great to me.

Mine was very simple...my daughters... they keep on trying all my hair pieces (though they are meant for brides)...and they look like angels from the eyes of a mother like me...then thought it could be the same for all the mothers (parents) out their...every girl is like an angel for her parent...that's why the name..."AngelsBy Anjali"...and it also rhymes with my name...

What about my shop, it is called "Klamra" and I extremely adore this name.

My shop is dedicated to restoring ancient Ukrainian casting tradition, so I was looking for a name that will have historical meaning.
When I started my shop, there was nothing but buckles in it.

That is how I discovered the word "Klamra". It is an archaism that means "buckle", so this name fully corresponds all the messages that we want to broadcast.

Hello Etsy and all people creators from around the world, I would like to tell you our brand story, that began in the 2011. We think about what to do with our knowledge in the natural cosmetics business and how to create brand name that goes very clear to understand and can speak without a words.
So we used a lot of Coconut butter that we produced for a coconut based creams cosmetic and we saw the result after women's were using our products on the daily skin care routine, their skin became ageless like you can see a lot of Hollywood actress and top models
young looking beauties. So, we decided to call: Coconut just transformed to Spanish word Cocos and word cosmetics! and We screamed loud we found it, yes it is COCOS COSMETICS!

That name is what make us driving around 6 years in cosmetic business!

We often are mistaken for sisters but are best friends that met many years ago.

My husband came up with the name Crochet Rozay. It is special to me because he passed away this past February.
I opened my shop in September 2016 and I get views but have had no sales but I keep plugging away.
I read everything about Etsy I can get my hands on so I can make a go of it. Everything in my shop is crochet by me. My mother and aunt taught me to crochet years ago using the slip stitch only and I have grown and taught myself from there. Now that I am retired I decided to make a go of it for extra income and I just love crocheting.

I ended up publishing a children's book (that had been on my heart to write for years)...based on the verse, "A cheerful expression brings joy to the heart." Proverbs 15:30 Since, I already had that in the works, I kept the name Happy Heart™ for my shop name as well.

Hi everyone! I just opened my shop on Etsy. My shop name is "PhoYoSelf". The name has its own meaning, yes. First, "PhoYoSelf" is like "For your self", the products of the shop are for you, for your own hobbies and interests. And also the first word "Pho", do you think it is familiar? It is the famous Vietnamese noodle soup " Phở". Why? Because I come from Vietnam and the shop names always reminds me of my home country (I am living in the States now).and also when people see my shop, I hope they will think about the symbol of my country - Phở.
Right now I only have digital pdf files for coloring on my shop but soon I will stock it with more stuffs, for example, clay charms.
