Hi teammates,

You guys have some super creative shop names that I love, but I often find myself wondering what the story behind them is. What do you like about your shop name? How does it relate to your business? Is there a funny anecdote behind it? Is it a pun? Is it a tribute to someone special to you? Did you have a different name before switching to your current one? How do you think customers interpret your name?

I'll go first. I got the name Sassafras from a good friend of mine who always called me Sassafras when I said anything that was a little snarky. I also have a passion for botany, so a plant name just felt like a perfect fit for me.

Now it's your turn. Share your stories and thoughts in this thread!

Re: What's the story behind your shop name?

Mine is after my rescue pup Amberlilly. You can see her photo on my about page. She is now 9! Where does the time go. I have another rescue named Jasi or Jasper my other little gem. He's 4. He also is a great model for my dog coats.

'Kenza' is the Arabic word for treasure - which is what I like to describe my products as and 'Nine' because that is my lucky number and my birth month!

Re: What's the story behind your shop name?

When I first started my business I was looking for a name for my shop. Inspiration came from the name of my best friend who's name is "Seryal". Her name was a combination of her mom's (Serap) and dad's (Yalcin) names. First three letters of their names became her name. And I used the same idea to create my shop name. Combination of my name, my husband's (Paul) and our last name. Created PaHaRa as my shop name.

Re: What's the story behind your shop name?

When I was growing up most people couldn't tell my sister (Marie) and me apart so we were known as the Golden Twins. Over the years our lives have taken us in many directions and we live far apart. I wanted to share my shop with her in spirit. The logo was designed by my sister. The emerald represents the fertilized ovum in the process of spitting into two distinct yet identical babies. We chose green to represent both the color of our eyes and the color of Ireland, our ancestral home. And, of course, the gold rings stand for our name. Although she is not part of the business I am lucky to have her vast marketing skills for free.

Re: What's the story behind your shop name?

Hi Everyone :::

Feel great about what you are wearing while sending some good karma out into the world.

"I create jewelry that I personally wear every day." I love to create jewelry that is very simple, delicate and feminine. My designs strike a perfect balance between professional, creative, formal and comfortable. Handmade for you, by me, Robyn, at I Love My Dog Jewelry. I create jewelry that has personal meaning to me and isn't just a fad or trend. Styles that you will wear today, tomorrow and next year.

My jewelry has a purpose beyond the creation of beautiful adornments. I believe in the power of gratitude and giving and I love creating for the benefit of animals. I am a volunteer rescue worker. I work with some very wonderful groups that drive rescue pets to their new homes. My jewelry sales improve the lives of homeless and abused animals through sheltering, adoption, education and advocacy, as well as the prevention of animal cruelty.

Always remember when you are wearing my beautiful jewelry you are helping a beautiful creature. You can feel good knowing that someone besides you benefits from your purchase... Look great and make a difference.

Kinfolk of Mine, family business! My cousin Monica has been helping me with another Brand of mine for 11 years. We always wanted to create a Brand just the two of us! Since we both like to cook, we decided to give candle making a try. We also like to make people laugh, so the names of our candles are funny--Sleeps with Dogs, Hot Mess, Raised by Wolves!

Have a great week!
Cheers Angela and Monica

Started as an artist in Canada. While using more and more metals in my designs, I decided to integrate both in my company name.

I knew I would always love both.

I love color so much and that goes into the jewlery I make. When coming up with the name for my store was wondering what these colors actually do, why I like them so much. I instantly realized that the are like sunshine that always makes me smile.
Even if there is no actual sunshine outdoors these tiny bubbles of color remind me of the sun and make me happier. Like a tiny therapy and a very positive one, too. :)

I live in a small village in Hampshire, UK and my house is called Hawthorns due to the Hawthorn trees which surround it and which look so pretty in the summer when the Mayflowers are out (the other name for Hawthorn is Mayflower) - I wanted to incorporate it into my name for my Crafts which include Needle Felted Animals and paper crafts.

Re: What's the story behind your shop name?

My name actually comes from a song lyric "with grace in your heart and flowers in your hair". It doesn't deeply relate to my store other than it's pretty and reflects how I approach things, I have thought about changing it a few times, advice or suggestions welcome! My surname is Scarlett so I thought about incorporating that.

Re: What's the story behind your shop name?

My 3.5 year old daughter, at the time, was the inspiration for the name “little rocks”. She would always pick up rocks and hide them in my pockets or around the house so I would always find little treasures. Whenever I would leave the house she would give me a rock to look after until I came back home and I have kept all the rocks she has gifted me. The key words we wanted our company to be associated with is positivity, optimism, fun, hope and the idea that if you treat something with care you can turn into a little “treasure”. Something that reminded us of a child’s innocence and hopefulness seemed very befitting. (Mari Krigkou)

Re: What's the story behind your shop name?

We are newbies to the Etsy Family! Our shop name is Forever Yours Etchings. We sandblast/etch, engrave personalized glassware, metal. etc.

Our name Forever Yours Glass Etchings comes from the concept that once you etch a special memory or occasion with a date, logo or art design on glass, metal, etc., it is permanently on that item “Forever”.
It is "Forever Yours".

My husband, Don and I love etchings and designing items to put on glassware flutes, mugs, growlers, etc.

This definitely started out as a hobby for us 15 years ago.

Re: What's the story behind your shop name?

Hello everyone.
I have a very simple story, I think it's easier not even to think of. My name is Michael, middle name A., last Name Zernin, and it has my nickname in the network 10 years ago - MAuZER. In tune with the famous German gun - mauser. Of course nothing to do with the weapons I have, but this word is known throughout the world and to remember my nickname is quite simple. In Russian Internet I'm known as mau3er, as figure 3 are very similar in spelling to the Russian letter Z. The store I called that way at first, but realized that for English-speaking visitors of this word do not understand. So I went back to writing more logical and more manageable size for visitors. The rest of the prefix in the name of the store says only that I, like all here, doing their works manually.
That's all.
Thank you and all the great sales!

Aartico was conceived outside of a portico of our previous home. It was just a spur of the moment decision. But since Aartico sounded beautiful and it also kind of told its own story, it was named thus.

Re: What's the story behind your shop name?

I have a niece, when I started my business she was 8 years old and at that time she was writing a comic book with all the pictures and characters. sisimama was the name of one of the book's characters and she asked me if I would want to name my business "sisimama" I loved it and since all my designs have a story, a brand name from a kid story fit perfect...

Re: What's the story behind your shop name?

From Pula with love.

My name is Vedran and as you already know I am dealing design and illustration . I began to sell my merch a year ago, when except for illustration and desing I began to be interested in screen printing.
I made myself a press of wooden pieces in my grandfather's basement and started to screen print.
Selling my items started on my Facebook page, but because of the demand outside the boundaires of Croatia I opened my Etsy shop.
My working place is still placed in my grandfather's basement. This is my special place, because each print I made is on the equipment that I 've made .
Every design is mine, and I hope that you like it!

Cheers!!!

Re: What's the story behind your shop name?

Hello everyone!
It was really difficult to find a suitable name for my new shop. I was trying the ones in my mind but it said '' This name is being used by other shop." My baby was crying aloud and I was getting really nervous. I typed shhbaby and etsy said it's OK! As I work only if my daughter sleeps, my shop name was really suited to the story of my shop:) I sell felt toys, wall hangs and playgrounds for children. wish you sales and lots of hope for the future everyone!

Re: What's the story behind your shop name?

As with so many Etsy sellers, I loved making things from when I was a kid. My interests varied and included pompoms, paper mâché, sketching, calligraphy, painting, origami, duct tape projects, jewelry, etc. I was always happiest when I had something to do with my hands and I had phases and obsessions that faded in and out. I later progressed to design for a living, and now I spend most of my time designing on my computer (with what else, my hands!).

My shop Hands in the attic was born because attic = lots of things, and my studio is in the uppermost storey of my building. One day I hope to have a lovely attic with lots of light.

Re: What's the story behind your shop name?

Absolutely love these stories as I, too, often wonder where they came from, people are so creative.

CraftyCyndi has been my user name for many years and I did not want to change that. I have built my business using that name.

When I opened my Etsy shop I still wanted to use it so we added the word art to the shop name. I wanted to be able to add anything I made to my shop.

Love reading the stories, great ideas!
