What music do you listen to while you make?

Hi there!

When I’m creating, I need to listen to something that will motivate me to keep going. Whether I’m knitting, cross-stitching or baking, I’m always playing records to get myself in the right frame of mind.

Do you listen to music while you make? If so, what kind do you choose? Why do you listen to the songs or artists that you do? Do they amp you up and get you excited to take on the day? Do they drive you to create more? Do you prefer music that calms you when things are stressful? Does it help keep you focused? Do you listen to music that will entertain you when work feels monotonous? Do you like something with a good beat to dance to when you need a little break?

I listen to all kinds of music, but my go-to when painting is my Elvis Costello channel on Pandora.

I also listen to podcasts and books from my library. I am currently listening to a true crime/memoir book, Son of a Gun. Sad, but good.

I love to read, so I listen to audio books while I make jewelry. When I need to really concentrate (like when I'm trying to list something on Etsy!) I like Pandora's Instrumental Praise and Instrumental for Studying stations. And Christmas music starts for me in October!

Classical music. I love to hear works from piano or cello solists from specific composers or artists.

When I hear classical music, it remeins me many small coincidents in my life. Without those it would not be perhaps happened what I'm doing as an artist now.

So when I'm creating my items and hearing classical music, I am conciously going into my world, which is very happy, stable and fulfilled with good moods.

I listen to rap generally because it energizes me. But when I knit just to relax, de-stress, or wind down before bed, I will usually put on rain or storm sounds. The combo really mellows me out and lets the tension flow away.

Lately, I've been listening to the Vikings soundtrack music and celtic music as it's been really inspiring me and helps to transfer designs from my mind onto paper and then the metal!

I also love and recommend Aurora, such a beautiful music and heavenly voice!
Sia has also been filling up my space, Fisrt Aid Kit and Fleet Foxes, The Beatles and some nice Rock :)
