Hi there!

When I’m creating, I need to listen to something that will motivate me to keep going. Whether I’m knitting, cross-stitching or baking, I’m always playing records to get myself in the right frame of mind.

Do you listen to music while you make? If so, what kind do you choose? Why do you listen to the songs or artists that you do? Do they amp you up and get you excited to take on the day? Do they drive you to create more? Do you prefer music that calms you when things are stressful? Does it help keep you focused? Do you listen to music that will entertain you when work feels monotonous? Do you like something with a good beat to dance to when you need a little break?

What are some songs or artists you often play in the studio? Share your thoughts and music recommendations in this thread!

Re: What music do you listen to while you make?

A lot of Pixies, Stereophonics and mostly old timers like Etta James :) My music taste is a bit chaotic and reflects my mood :)

I love to listen to pan flute (Native American) music, some guitar and harp. Also like Celtic. When we travel and set up our booth at festivals/shows I always play this kind of music and people love it.

I like listening to classic rock. Because I grew up listening to that. It has a positive feel and uplifting vibe. It also depends on the mood I'm in or what project I'm doing.

Re: What music do you listen to while you make?

Currently I'm all about David Bowie! His music varies from album to album and I am never bored. My favorite thing to do is stick my ear buds in, so it feels like I'm inside the music. Then I work. It always feels like magic!

I often actually watch shows on Netflix if my laptop happens to fit on my work desk that day. If not, I play podcasts or radio shows from my phone. My favourites are Radiolab, This American Life, Wits, and geeze, like ten more lol

Re: What music do you listen to while you make?

Just whatever I'm in the mood for. Sometimes contemporary Christian, sometimes pop, sometimes light rock, sometimes country. Third Day is my favorite Christian group. Sia and Adele are favorites in the pop category. I like Carrie Underwood and Sam Hunt in the country category. I have a very eclectic taste in music.

KHUM, "Radio without the rules". They play a pretty eclectic mix of classic rock, alternative, folk, oldies, mo-town, funk, ska, etc. etc. They also play local bands and have musicians in the studio almost every week. Always finding great new music and the DJ's are more than tolerable. They stream if anyone is interested.
