What music do you listen to while you make?

Hi there!

When I’m creating, I need to listen to something that will motivate me to keep going. Whether I’m knitting, cross-stitching or baking, I’m always playing records to get myself in the right frame of mind.

Do you listen to music while you make? If so, what kind do you choose? Why do you listen to the songs or artists that you do? Do they amp you up and get you excited to take on the day? Do they drive you to create more? Do you prefer music that calms you when things are stressful? Does it help keep you focused? Do you listen to music that will entertain you when work feels monotonous? Do you like something with a good beat to dance to when you need a little break?

If I'm not watching a movie, I'll listen to some old classics. My favorites are Kansas - Dust in the Wind, Nancy Sinatra - Bang Bang, Michael Andrews - Mad World.

For me, it all depends on the mood and/or time of the day or moment, but typically I'll have my Pandora "Hawaiian Music" station going (love slack-key guitar!!!), a little native american flutes, a lot of Over the Rhine, Moody Blues, Jim Croce, and, oddly enough, Bad Religion :)

Listening to bible teaching while I create. That gives me the best inspiration, cool ideas and I am coming up with helpful products.

Weaving and music sets the tone for a great day, any day. I get a rhythm going and listen to top country sounds and back to 1970's. Eagles were my go to music. Now Keith Urban and other great guitar players.

I LOVE all kinds of music, and it does depend on the mood I am currently in.. :) I am always listening to some sort of music... plus I am learning guitar so that helps with the creativity process.

Sometimes, if I feel like relaxed, I love classical or jazz or coffee house station on Spotify. Dave Matthews and Coldplay are my absolute favs!

If I am feeling like I need to get stuff done ASAP, I love fast beat music like techno.

oh.. am I the only one that gets distracted by music and TV? I work best when it's quiet.. crocheters sometimes need to count stitches, and I can't sing along with my favorite songs and count at the same time LOL

Getting lost in decent hip-hop/rap songs can keep you going for hours. It's so much more relaxing to have something to nod your head to.
