What music do you listen to while you make?

Hi there!

When I’m creating, I need to listen to something that will motivate me to keep going. Whether I’m knitting, cross-stitching or baking, I’m always playing records to get myself in the right frame of mind.

Do you listen to music while you make? If so, what kind do you choose? Why do you listen to the songs or artists that you do? Do they amp you up and get you excited to take on the day? Do they drive you to create more? Do you prefer music that calms you when things are stressful? Does it help keep you focused? Do you listen to music that will entertain you when work feels monotonous? Do you like something with a good beat to dance to when you need a little break?

We listen to radio 6 music hosted by Ceris Mathews, Iggy Pop or Craig Charles and the dance music guy who's name I forget X

Iron & wine, Sigur Ros or The XX for a relaxed calm flowing mood. It's my favorite Pandora stations as well and probably what i listen to the most.
Best of the 80's when i'm feeling upbeat and fun.
Our local alternative radio for other times.

I like to listen to podcast while sewing, Comedy Film Nerds or Doug Loves Movies are both good for the movie lover in me and Good Job Brain for my random trivia side. You should check them out! I also like to watch Gilmore Girls or Friends on Netflix while I'm working.

For Many years I needed t listen all the time to music when I was working and creating such as Bach, Mozart or Beethoven and I could go to very contrasting to U2, Depeche Mode, The cure and Pink, Floyd. Whenever I work, I turn on Praise albums, full volume. Somehow it reminds me that the creative parts of me are a gift of God, and whatever I am or ever hope to be, I owe to God.
When I'm working several hours straight through, I usually turn on Chopin or Beethoven, and when I'm solving challenges, Mozart or Bach.

classical on the local college radio station, they play such a great variety and it is so relaxing. however from Thanksgiving until I close shop for Christmas it 's all holiday music gotta love pandora.

Instrumental movie soundtracks have always worked for me, 8tracks have some brilliant ones. They're great to listen to without being distracting though oddly I also love watching movies while making, definitely a bit more effort to concentrate!

I love to listen to music while I create. I love to listen to music most anytime, really. When I am painting, jazz is mostly in the background. I just tune in to the jazz channel on my TV and let come what may. Sometimes it's upbeat and sometimes just relaxing, but either way, it keeps me fueled to create.
