Hi there!

When I’m creating, I need to listen to something that will motivate me to keep going. Whether I’m knitting, cross-stitching or baking, I’m always playing records to get myself in the right frame of mind.

Do you listen to music while you make? If so, what kind do you choose? Why do you listen to the songs or artists that you do? Do they amp you up and get you excited to take on the day? Do they drive you to create more? Do you prefer music that calms you when things are stressful? Does it help keep you focused? Do you listen to music that will entertain you when work feels monotonous? Do you like something with a good beat to dance to when you need a little break?

What are some songs or artists you often play in the studio? Share your thoughts and music recommendations in this thread!

Audio books mostly, but when it is music, it's blues and jazz, opera, or indie rock, alt country.

It's going to be David Bowie for awhile for me... I'm still in disbelief that he's really gone.

I usually put something gangsta like Biggie, that way I feel extra hardcore when handing all my hot materials.

Re: What music do you listen to while you make?

I like to watch Harry Potter, it gives me confidence to remember JK took a gamble creating this whole other world, and got knocked back heaps of times. It helps me push through when I'm over threading bead after bead.

Hi everybody! I am new here in your team.
Most of the time I listen to Norah Jones. She is magnifique! But I don't recommand on rainy days. Yesterday I sewed the word "RAIN" instead of "RANCH". Even twice!:-)

Re: What music do you listen to while you make?

I love to listen to talking books — via Audible, sometimes music doesn't engage my mind enough if I'm doing something quite repetitive. I just listened to "Les Miserables" by Victor Hugo — 67 hours of bliss!!

Re: What music do you listen to while you make?

For me Smooth FM, (Sydney Radio Station) the music is so soothing, Crocheting is part of my relaxing therapy because I can't seem to stop so the smooth FM music is an added bonus. Music like Buble or classics such as Nat King Cole, Abba, Aretha Franklin, 4 Season, Frankie Valley etc the best

Re: What music do you listen to while you make?

Oh my goodness, so not an easy answer! It depends on my mood ;-)

If I'm working on a long section of a project, I tend to listen to Big Band/Swing music

If I'm in a hurry to complete a project for a customer, I listen to Rock 'n Roll to keep my energy up.

If I'm relaxing in the evening on a project, usually Traditional Country which puts me in a nostalgic mood.

Classical for when I really want to concentrate on something more difficult.

So many genres of music for so many moods of me!

At the moment I love listening to Ruelle. She has a beautiful voice and the instrumental side of her songs always gets me into the zone.

The last few times I've made jewelry I've listened to Lifehouse. Absolutely LOVE them! I'll go through most of their albums in one sitting. It's calming, even the rock and roll songs. ;)
