What music do you listen to while you make?

Hi there!

When I’m creating, I need to listen to something that will motivate me to keep going. Whether I’m knitting, cross-stitching or baking, I’m always playing records to get myself in the right frame of mind.

Do you listen to music while you make? If so, what kind do you choose? Why do you listen to the songs or artists that you do? Do they amp you up and get you excited to take on the day? Do they drive you to create more? Do you prefer music that calms you when things are stressful? Does it help keep you focused? Do you listen to music that will entertain you when work feels monotonous? Do you like something with a good beat to dance to when you need a little break?

I have a mix of upbeat tunes and things I like to sing along to on my iPod called studio mix. Over the past year or so I started listening to a lot of business and creative podcasts instead of music and I save music (or a show on Netflix) as a treat for while I'm working. I feel like when I'm listening to a podcast and learning that I'm maximizing my time :)

Hey...83 yrs old(I know...it's hard to believe!) and I listen to everything from Sinatra:Blues:Jazz:Beatles:Big Band:Ella:Nat: Al Green; and on and on....we play it loud while designing...throw in some Latin ...while at the computer I prefer classical music...it plays on radio softly all the time!

I love popping into my Massive Attack, Morcheeba, or Florence + the Machine stations on Pandora while I'm working on the computer. I love to listen to soothing and uplifting music to keep me focused and chill. When I'm creating work, I like to listen to stoner metal like Eagles of Death Metal, Queens of the Stone Age, and Graveyard. It has a great bass lines that keep me rockin' and rollin' all day. {I'm a metal chick at heart}
