Did you mean:
There's been alot of posts about not being seen or getting views but no sales.....
There's ALOT of competition on etsy within every category. With that said, I think we each need to offer something a little different. So.....

What do you think makes your shop/items different?

Re: What makes you different?

I offer things that are truly hand-printed, as in the designs are carved by hand, then inked by hand then printed by hand, meaning every one is truly unique.

Re: What makes you different?

I know there are alot of artists who make feather earrings... I am fairly new here and have only had about 10 sales. It discourages me because I know the love and time I put into each piece to make it special. I have adapted a new technique in wrapping each earrings so that it is made to last. Not only that, but each feather is handpicked to ensure it is without fault. I would not make any item that I would not wear myself. Any constructive criticism on how to better my shop is much appreciated. Thanks a million!

Re: What makes you different?

Glad you all are enjoying the thread.

I haven't had time to go to everyone's shop - I've been cutting and polishing cabs & will get them listed tomorrow. BUT... I did go see Eccentricity's shop (I liked your avatar). and I LOVE your frazzled faces. They are truly unique.
I also stopped by Metamorphosis and I think your feathers are unique because you use more color than I've seen elsewhere. Will try to stop by more tomorrow.

Re: What makes you different?

There is a TON of hemp jewelry on etsy, but what should set me apart is the fact that I use organic hemp, un-dyed, unbleached or dyed with plant based dyes. I have been hemping for 11 years and b/c I have made sooo many and worn a ton of different styles/types, I know what actually works to make a high quality piece. I never have knots just sticking out, and no missed stitches, and my pieces will stand up to thousands of hours of wear or many many years b/c I reinforce the spots that tend to wear out sooner. I take care and pride with each movement of twine in my hands. I only use natural materials from the earth- NeveR plastic! I love each piece that I create, and I enjoy creating! I would love to see my pieces go to great use, instead of sitting in a basket here at home looking lonely. Thank you for this thread! It was nice having a chance to tell others what sets me apart from the hemp pushers- The fact that I am an artist, and I love my craft- and it shows in my work! (well this thread topic is a little braggy- so hope I didn't come off as such:)) Best Wishes to all of you unique talented etisians!

Re: What makes you different?

I design DIY Party Printables (personalized party invitations, cupcakee toppers, bunting etc) so I try to come up with original party themes - not the same ones as everyone else.

This being said, it makes my themes difficult to search for. My own different takes on popular themes may work better?

Time will tell.

Re: What makes you different?

I'm a felt maker, and while there is a ton of stuff listed under felt not a lot of it is made by hand from raw wool, this is usually called wet felting-somethings are nuno felt. It's a lot of work but you can make a unique high quality product. You can dye or blend your own colors and make any design that comes to mind. It's a great craft but it's hard to distinguish ourselves.

Re: What makes you different?

Now make sure your potential customers know what makes you each so special. I have REALLY enjoyed reading each of the posts. I had no idea about some of what each of you do to create what you sell. I'm very impressed.

Re: What makes you different?

I paint, decorate and embellish unfinished boxes! There are so many beautiful boxes on etsy. Sometimes It seems like I'm lost in a sea it's so vast! I don't know if it's a good or bad thing but I haven't ever seen boxes like mine! They are very different, sometimes maybe too different! A lot of times I wonder if they aren't too taste specific? But I would say you could tell they're mine!!

Re: What makes you different?

I sell vintage, and specialize in vintage cameras. I have a background in fine art photography, and have used many vintage and toy cameras. I think my background helps me provide the information that the buyer is looking for, as well as answer any questions or concerns thoroughly!
