What is my target audience/customer?

I am curious what peoples opinions are. I know just about everyone likes a pretty picture but who do you think is my "target customer" I have been pleasantly surprised by the diversity of those who have purchased from my shop but it has not really helped me nail down who to target in advertising.

Re: What is my target audience/customer?

You have some very beautiful and amazing pieces in your shop! After looking through it I think that you may have such a diverse group of customers because you have such wonderful diversity within your paintings! You have still life, country, city, people, animals, etc. which is amazing. I feel like most artists have one genre. Maybe the diversity of your customers is not really a bad thing? Yes it may make it harder to figure out exactly how to market to your "ideal customer" but at the same time you have a variety of people who admire your work. I know this really didn't answer your question but I hope it helped!

Re: What is my target audience/customer?

I would say home owners age 30-60 who like fine art & watercolor painting. Nature and rustic lovers. I really can't say. Have you sold in person? What kind of people buy from you in person?

Crystal, I remember what Danielle said about our target customer, she summed it up so well...........

"...Someone just like You with more Money........."

Your paintings are beautiful!

Re: What is my target audience/customer?

There are some good tips on that blog that brandi posted. I agree about your items being more rustic, abtract, some nature and some city. Although you have some city paintings I would say that you're target is rural moms (30-65) who have a rustic or country style who are looking for paintings for decorations for their home. They are probably going to be the type to collect nicknacks, hummels and like to decorate their rooms in themes, possibly have other art with quotes about family or religion. I know this is very specific but I think about people I know that would buy paintings like yours (including my mom) and that's what I think of. Hunters, gardeners, bird watchers and people with other related hobbies would probably also fit into your demo. Your city paintings might appeal to a little younger demo and some males 25-40 for their home or office and will probably have a more modern style. Your prices are reasonable so you're probably not looking at art collectors or higher income people who are looking for expensive trendy art with a "big name" artist (not that I'm saying you won't be!)

Re: What is my target audience/customer?

I think your shop sections can be different.
I would section your work under Country, Western, Floral, Seascape, Greeting cards, etc.
Landscape covers all but in a search it might be better to be more defining.
Hope this helps...Keep up the wonderful work you do.

Re: What is my target audience/customer?

I agree about hte sections. I have redone them a few times recently and just can not get them in a way I like. I wish you could put some in more then one section.

Re: What is my target audience/customer?

My experience as an artisan has shown me that there is no way to predict who will buy what. It changes all the time, one person comes into my shop and says *This style is more for older people, this one for younger people* and the next person says the reverse... but anyway, what would you do different if you were able to define a target audience ?

Re: What is my target audience/customer?

This is an excellent article on How To Find And Sell To Your Target Market - http://www.seo-web-pro.blogspot.com/2010/04/how-to-find-and-sell-to-your-target.html

I see a lot of nature, especially flowers, when I look through your paintings and prints. Someone who loves gardening or botany as well as fine art would be a good target market for your work.

Re: What is my target audience/customer?

@Wendi ---After mulling it over for a minute and checking on some blogs I already like and might want to advertise with.. How do I approach blogs about how many viewers/followers they have without being too intrusive and on average, how much does an advertisement cost?

Thanks,
Kristina
