What happens to a listing if you deactivate it?

I am wondering the best way to handle a situation with a listing.
I received a convo today that someone is interested in purchasing multiples of my item for her bridesmaids. I only have supplies on hand to meet her order (if it happens).

If it does happen it is better for me to:
1) Make a new custom listing and deactivate my other listing until I can get supplies?
or
2) Convert my current listing into the custom listing and once I get supplies relist?

The item has been favorited been some people and I am just wondering how doing one versus the other will affect my listing in their favorites.

Any advice would be great.

Deactivating just makes it so customers wont see it. When you got to "Your Shop" then "Listings," your deactivated ones will be under their own tab, and you can reactivate them any time you want!

I plan on doing this when I go away for a week in August (along with a message in my shop announcement with my return date). I have heard that this is much better to do than to put your shop into vacation mode.

Why not edit the current listing for her as a reserved custom order, then convo her with the link, so she can place the order as soon as possible.

If you only have sufficient supplies to create the order for her, you don't really want the one item to sell to someone else who may have faved it, and risk losing her custom order... at least that's what I would do ;)

As to your question about which to do. Convert the listing or have her buy it.
I don't put custom items as a listing unless I have the supplies in hand, but that's just me because I hate to make customers wait.
You wouldn't actually have to have the item made per say but have the supplies in hand.

I agree with Cher, make your current listing a "Reserved Listing" and then you can order more supplies in the mean time. Good luck!

I would say edit the current one for a reserved listing, saves you the listing fee. I know it's not a lot but it adds up over time!

Make this a reserved listing for multiples and when you get the supplies just edit and renew it to keep the favorites.

This is a question that I deal with all the time.

If its for something that you currently sell, I'd update the quantity and shipping and set it on reserve for immediate purchase.

Once you've got the supplies in to recreate it again for general sale, you can then relist the item, keeping all the hearts and views.

If I deactivate a listing because I am currently unable to get some supplies needed to make the item, will I lose the "favorites" and amount of "sales" that shows up for customers to see?
