Like the wedding dress fiasco...

The worst part is when you look at the sales stats on some of those people. The first octopus pendant I clicked on I found that seller had over 2000 sales of similar type hobby lobby pieces... no wonder it is hard for truly handcrafted pieces to find their way to the top

Can't hate the traffic it provides a listing, but it's essentially the troll kingdom for the handmade world. I just don't find unbridled cruelty toward artists and their creations funny.

However, if regretsy provides hits that end up selling the mocked piece, the artist is the one who laughs last.

I love Regretsy, I check it often....it's always good for a good laugh! The woman that runs the blog is hilarious and has such a funny perspective on things.

And for those who think that the site is nothing more than a massive troll...not true. Most of the stuff on there deserves to be on there....I'm sorry, but who lists a "genuine hairball" necklace then says, in the listing, that it costs something like $25k and is actually priceless?

@heidicarpenter Gotta disagree. I don't think regretsy is less about outing resellers and poor quality work, than just flat out getting their jollies by mocking what they don't like.

Members of my team have been featured on Regretsy, and it was extremely disheartening to see their creations put through the ringer, not because it was a resell, not because it was poorly made, but because it wasn't something that catered to the masses, and was judged accordingly. It takes courage to put your art out there to the world.

I've been online long enough to know when a community is trying to be helpful and when it just delighting in consequence-free cruelty. I don't believe the Etsy community is improved by this "oversight" as much as it is harassed and intimidated by it.

I love regretsy. I think is a good way to make us sellers take care on our products and make nice things... not horrible ones! And it points out re-sellers, what I think is a good way for reporting plagiarism.

One of my dear friends Heather of http://NiftyKnits.etsy.com (who makes the most adorable Meerkats), was featured on the Regretsy website and even made the cut into their book. It was her Meerkat nativity scene from 2 Christmases ago that was featured. It turned out to be one of the best things that could have happened to her. Her business when through the roof that holiday, and she sold so many of the Meerkat Nativity scenes (along with all the other miscellaneous orders) that she almost couldn't keep up. Regretsy is not alway a curse. Sometimes it is a blessing in disguise!
