What do you think of regretsy?

I think it's actually a great way to weed out the crap...
Like the wedding dress fiasco...

Etsy is rife with resellers and con-artists from what I've noticed, I mean just search for "octopus pendant" and see how many people are trying to sell this: http://shop.hobbylobby.com/products/octopus-pendant-with-rhinestones-162818/

One of the most overlooked aspects of Regretsy is the charity drives that they run. Frequently, it is Etsy sellers in need who directly benefit from these drives. The community there might be snarkalicious, but underneath the humor, there's a LOT of heart - it's there for all to see should they bother to look. Many Etsy sellers have gone from unseen and no sales to a booming business overnight. And the ones who benefit the most are the ones who take it in stride and laugh along with everyone else.

Oh, NIfty is great - she's got a great sense of humor. The lady who runs the site also works (worked?) for Disney at some point, didnt' she?

I think it can get a little mean, but I don't follow them on FB or anything. Some of the stuff is completely unbelievable, though.

It is nice to see that so many people enjoy the site and admit it! Of course, with all the people asking to join April's Army team it really shouldn't come as a surprise.

@MyOctoberCountry, I'm sorry but I do not agree. Yes, sometimes Regretsy features things that are not all that "huh?"--but MOST of the things they feature deserve to be on there.

But, if your items or those of your team are featured, then well, may as well make lemonade out of lemons and appreciate the increase in views (and therefore sales), right?

and @MyOctoberCountry, come on... I've had people tear me to shreds in critiques. I've seen people run away from professors crying.

You get back up, dust off, try to learn something from it and move forward. Right?

If your stuff ends up there or your buddies stuff ends up on there, It's stupid and sucks. Whatever. Get over it.

I think its great. We need to laugh at ourselves, right? I also like that it calls out those who sell things illegally...etsy needs to monitor listings better from what I can tell. I mean, we are super regulated in forums/groups, but people are getting away with selling other's art for extended periods of time? =/

@Studio52Ponoka exactly! Design school critique is where you learn a lot of things, not the least of which is that just because you like it and your best friend likes it and your sister likes it, doesn't mean someone else won't dislike it.

We put our creations out here for all to see and they do, even those who find fault with what we make. You like what you make and people buy it, isn't that what this is about.

I absolutely LOVE regretsy! I only wish I could make something that is so ridiculous that it is featured there. I bought the book and received it just yesterday and it makes me laugh so hard that it brings me to tears! Imagine the traffic your item would get if it were featured on regretsy!

I think it's easy to get all "Marketing crazy" with your shop, I've posted ads across the country on Kijiji...

But to make something in the hopes of getting it on regretsy is going a bit far...defeats the whole purpose of regretsy and I think they'd be onto you..

I love the site! I check it every day. I understand why someone would be upset that their item is on there, but it can do a lot of good. I wish the people whos items get posted had a sense of humor about it (some of them do, and I love it). I like to think of it as an honor, like your piece was found on the internet, and someone had such an opinion about it, that they shared it with other.
