What are we doing wrong???

We would love to have some feedback on what we can do to improve out store so that we can get some more sales. I see shops that are similar to ours in pricing and similar products and they sell several things a day. How do we get to that point??? Thank you in advance for your help!

hi heather & laura -

i think you're asking the million $ question!

but for me on first look at your shop this would be my thoughts:

- lose the china plate for displaying the jewelry - it distracts from the jewelry
- develop a more cohesive look to you shop items - if you are branding yourself as a shabby chic look then stay within that - the photos of the little girls that look candid are the ones that seem to work the best to me
- also work on your facebook & twitter presence - YOU have to find people they will NOT find you.

i hope i did not sound harsh - i bet someone is going to chime in with some really great advice for you both!

Having just opened in September I think your doing very well to start. Your products look great.

My first impressions:
1. Mix up your home page. At first glance it looked like you only sold headbands. Some customers may not stick around to click through your categories.

2. Make the first shot of your jewelry brighter and closer.

3. Revamp some of your titles. A lot of your headbands say its for flower girls but can also be for grown up girls. You title is too limiting.

For instance:

You could rename it to Netted Veil Headband with Flower and brooch.

You are doing well, our shop had to wait about 6 weeks just to get one sale. We all want to know how to get several sales a day.

on the left bottom side bar on your main page you will see a rearrange your items. Click it and start mixing up your items move from page to page change mingle .

I've been were you are at...My best advise is get viewed! Be on twitter and facebook. If you have high views you'll be found through etsy. Learn from the good shops. If they are selling see what tags are working for them. Also, relist now that you have a large inventory.

Heather, I should have said "renew" once or so a day. You need to push your items out there to be seen. Be active! It takes time and alot of learning to get going. :)

Okay, one more questions about the "renew" does that cost another $.20 each time?

Many shops dont sell a lot no matter the efforts we make..I have done many things and just had 2 sales... I am closing next year, it became a lost of money and time :(

One more thing - if we renew our items will that push us to the front of the pages? For instance if we renew a flower girl headband and someone searches for flower girl headband would that make our item appear on one of the first pages of items?

Each item gets listed for a certain amount of time (I think it's 4 months on here)
When it runs out, you need to renew it so it is up for sale again and yes it will cost another 0.20, but it is worth doing.
It took me ages to get my first sales, you have to work hard to promote all your items on Facebook, twitter, Pinterest etc

My cup of tea miniatures, I would stick with it, your items are lovely.
There are a lot of dolls house enthusiasts out there, you just have to find them.
See if you can find any teams to help you promote your items, 0.20 cents really isn't a massive amount of money you have to look at it as advertising, if you we're to advertise in a dolls house magazine it would cost a lot more.
Have you thought of writing to magazines, maybe making a few tutorials, or finding someone who blogs regularly?
Just a few ideas, which you might have already tried.

renewing only last for a few hours though... there are way too many shops on Etsy and that means that they renew a lot of items.
You've got nothing to lose to do it though and see how it goes.
And there is an app _ can't remember name, that renews automatically and has tags to renew when it sees that searching for similar items is hot.
have not tried it though.
