What am I doing wrong?

I know I've only opened shop in two weeks but is it normal for me to have 2,274 views, 343 favorites but not a single sale? I'm second guessing about trying this on Etsy and maybe moving elsewhere. What do you guys think? Thank you in advance :)

Re: What am I doing wrong?

That is really odd the only thing I can guess is the way you maybe tag your items and then it pops up when someone is searching and it is not what they wanted. I dont know for sure but that is my guess. Go through your tags as it is great to have views but only views are good if that is what someone is searching.

Re: What am I doing wrong?

It depends. It is normal for a few hundred views per item for each sale. Also, if you are promoting or posting in forums/teams, then you would get a lot of views and favorites with no sales. Where are your views mostly coming from?

Then look at traffic sources from etsy, which one is at the top? Search, teams, browse, etc.

Re: What am I doing wrong?

"Your Listings" is the highest at 712. Then shop, teams, search, treasury.

Re: What am I doing wrong?

Well, that means that people who come to your shop are staying in your shop to browse. That is good. Ideally, search would be higher than teams. People who use search are usually looking to buy. You are still extremely new. I wouldn't give up just yet. You have unique items, your shop looks great. Work on adding items and SEO. Join CindyLou's SEO team. The last two weeks for me: 1,310 views, 56 favorites, 7 orders. Traffic sources: Your shop, Search, Your Listings

Re: What am I doing wrong?

I think photography is a tough sell on Etsy.

I would recommend setting up a more professional looking shop elsewhere - not saying your photography is unprofessional because it definitely isn't - but I think Etsy shops look like the shops of hobbyists instead of professional businesses. I use mine to pick up "passing trade", I don't promote it much.

Do you have your own website?
I have a website which I link to my "proper" shop which is hosted by Bigcartel. It looks way more professional and much more consistent with the branding of my jewellery. Perhaps this is something you could think about doing.

Re: What am I doing wrong?

I had another thought since it is Halloween week I think more people are searching things like gruesome Photography like which is one of your tags. I would see what it is like next week and see if Halloween was getting mixed in with some of your tags. I wish I had a spot for one of your pictures as I really like them but I think you need a certain decor to pull it off so it looks right and not odd.

Re: What am I doing wrong?

I only looked at one of your photographs but there was no description of what the photgraph was. What is the story, why did you take it, what does it mean? Pretend your items are in a gallery showing and you are talking to the customers about your art. People need to connect and you can do that through each items description.

Re: What am I doing wrong?

I don't even get that many views a month.

You're new, you have tons of favorites. People should be shopping next month. It's hard to sell photography on here. Sometimes it takes people months to sell something.

I would suggest setting up your shop sections to include the dimensions. One for 8x10, one for 11x14, etc. Some photographers expand their shop by adding photo jewelry, note cards, greeting cards, etc.

Good luck!

Re: What am I doing wrong?

I love your shop, I wouldn't give up just yet. I am in a similar situation. Lots views and favorites but no sales. I am just hoping they will transfer into sales. Since you are selling prints, you might want to print off a few examples so the buyer could see what a printed version would look like. I know this can be expensive, but when I am shopping for prints it is something that I look for.

Re: What am I doing wrong?

Thank you for all the input guys. I don't really like to give a description to my photos other than maybe a poem. I really don't like to talk about my photos. I want them to speak for themselves. I know that's kind of a cliche thing to say but that's what I want.

I don't think Halloween has to do anything with it as my shop is found using keywords dealing with photography.

I guess I'll give it another month or two to see if I can get a sale. Thanks everyone!
