What Does ETSY Call it?

Do you name your items what Etsy calls Them? I make what I call "Baby Car Seat Covers"

I come up on the first page with this

But searching different thing I saw that when "Car Seat Canopy'' comes up its a picture of my same item.

Also "Car Seat Cover"

Now do I kept my listings as is or do a change some of them to try getting in all the categories they have. Is it okay to have the same item under different names?

Have some listed as one name, and some as the other... being an international site there are small differences sometimes in names :)

I wasn't sure if it was better to have them all the same to stay cohesive or better to hit the few things it could be called

You're better off to try and use the suggested keywords that show in the drop down when you search, because that's how the buyers are shopping.

Plus, you don't want too many duplicate titles, and since we are an international site, there may be other words you could use... I know that strollers are often called prams in other countries, just as they call the trunk of a car the boot.

I'd try using a few of the different ones ... and check your stats to see what keywords are being used to find you items and use those in your tags too ;)

I change mine around. Some people search for note cards; others search for stationery. :)

If I find a better name for something that's coming up in Etsy I try to use it in my title or my tags, but whichever one seems to be getting more views is the one that I keep in the front so that it gets picked up more. Don't forget to drop it somewhere in your description too, so that google will pick it up.

If your items go by many names, then why not use the various names in multiple listings?

For example I sell what is commonly referred to as a 'soap deck' around here. But others call it a soap tray, a soap dish or a soap saver.

So I have listings with each of those names.

I'd use the search engine to see which one comes up first and use that as the title but then add tags with the other names...if I have an item that can be called in different ways I usually just choose one for the title and add the others in the tags...

Use as many different terms as you can, as long as they fit what you're selling. The more different searches you come up in, the better. I list about half of mine as 'bowties' and the other as 'bow ties', as people use both versions when searching.

Agreed with Dan; mix it up so that you will be found in any versions that people search for when they're looking for items like yours. Good luck!
