Website hosts other than Weebly?

I have heard complaints that it's not user-friendly and that the templates are too restrictive.

Re: Website hosts other than Weebly?

Yeah, same thing here. I'm trying to find this out myself. Some one mentioned in another area google and go daddy. So I'm checking those out. They also said you need to purchase a private registration. Here's the link. http://www.etsy.com/forums_thread.php?thread_id=5211972

But I'm still confused! Lol. But learning!

Re: Website hosts other than Weebly?

I follow the Everythingetsy.com blog quite often, as well as my husband is very techie, so we went with Hostgator, and using Wordpress. You can get a TON of really great free themes and its super user-friendly, even for someone like me that really has no experience at all with coding or anything like that. Plus with Hostgator its pretty reasonably priced. Between my website and my husbands we spend less than 20 bucks a month on hosting, and you get a ton of features. Good luck with your search!

Re: Website hosts other than Weebly?

I'm using the ecommerce part of Weebly and find that it is really a lot of work just to list one product, so I tend to not update it like I should. I am now looking at Volution for an ecommerce site and will probably try the 14-day free trial over the next couple of days.

I use Wordpress.net, hosted on Bluehost for my blog and am very happy with it. Just need to keep up writing my blog.

Re: Website hosts other than Weebly?

We host our websites on squarespace.com.

My hubby is also a techy and does this for a living. He creates basic, but custom websites for people and gets it all set up for a small charge. He also fixes computers! He can be found here: www.cohesivesupport.com
for those who are interested. He is super helpful and patient. (I swear I'm not just saying that. :) His customers tell me this.

Cheers.

Re: Website hosts other than Weebly?

Goodness, who told you that? I know I didn't. :P Weebly is way easy - if you can set up an Etsy shop, you can use Weebly.

Re: Website hosts other than Weebly?

I found these informative articles today highlighting several sites you could choose from. Article 1) http://smallbiztrends.com/2010/08/7-free-website-builders-small-businesses.html. And article 2) http://smallbiztrends.com/2010/09/8-more-free-website-builder-tools-for-small-business.html

Good luck!!!

Cynthia. The guy who did these articles says HostGator is a good one.

Re: Website hosts other than Weebly?

I use wix.com and so far have been satistifed. They offer a wide range of ready made templates you can use to alternate to your needs. Only minus is they don't accept paypal. But with that I can live with.

I started with a template and ended up changing everything. It's very easy to use and there's a lot you can do.

Re: Website hosts other than Weebly?

I use www.yola.com for my other business website. Very easy to set up..many free templates..lots of drag and drop capabilities...can sell items on the page you create or now they offer an online store option for a fee. They do offer a free hosting option...or if you want your own .com you have that option too. I pay about $40 a year for my domain name and for hosting (the silver package)..be sure to google yourself a coupon code and use it! Yola has message boards..online and phone help. I was impressed with the online help. On a holiday I had asked a question and received an immediate response. They are great. Even my college instructor encouraged us to use them!

Re: Website hosts other than Weebly?

Hmm... I currently use Weebly and like it so far. In the past I also used www.homestead.com. People I know use www.wix.com and are happy with it. Good luck with your decision!

Re: Website hosts other than Weebly?

So much depends on how techie you or a partner are.

Kathleen's husband can be an excellent investment if you just aren't into fiddling with themes and whatnot.

Like Cynthia, we use Hostgator as our web host and WordPress.org (not .com) as a website design tool. But it is a lot more work to set up a shopping cart (e-commerce) system this way. That's one of the reasons Etsy is so popular. :)

Re: Website hosts other than Weebly?

I use Jimdo, it's a nice template site. I like it a lot. Easy to use, and no HTML required! They have free services, but I use Jimdo Pro which runs me $60 a year.

Ah. Well, I've never had an issue, and the one or two questions I've had, their response was friendly and fast.

Re: Website hosts other than Weebly?

Wix.com premium is what I use:

www.ten-candles.com

I pay for the shop feature but I don't have it quite set up yet! I absolutely love how easy it is to use. It's great and I've had good responses to it.
