Was wondering if I can have your opinion on my page...

Hey everyone! My name is Kelly and I'm new to the team. I am a vintage seller on Etsy {www.etsy.com/shop/Rue78Vintage} and was wondering if you wouldn't mind giving me a bit of feedback on my page. I started selling on Etsy about a year ago. My sales have been lagging in general (only 75 in the past year). I see other vintage shops with similar items selling at about 10 times the rate I am- shops that have opened at the same time as mine, too.

I was wondering, is it...my lighting? My photography? Choice of background? I noticed many shops with plain white backgrounds. I'll admit that just isn't me, but will it help my sales? Do I give up the colorful backgrounds & go for plain white? I've been using natural light, too- found my lighting set-up to look too artificial. Should I skip the natural in favor of a light box?

Also, I do have a facebook page (www.facebook.com/Rue78Vintage) but that's about it. Any advice on social media sites & shop promotion?

Thanks so much in advance for listening to me & for any advice you can give ♡

xoxo
Kelly

Re: Was wondering if I can have your opinion on my page...

Your lighting is great, props are well thought out and your photography is lovely. Keep doing what you're doing!

I think a lot of this boils down to keywording, titles, tags etc. And of course, using every avenue you can find to get the word out!

I wouldn't search for sunny yellow coffee mugs, but I might search for yellow coffee mugs, for example.

Maybe others can chime in, but I think your photography is not an issue in the least. I think you will have better luck working on promotion, and relevancy (great article on relevancy here: http://www.etsy.com/teams/7722/business-topics/discuss/9253397/ )

Hope that helps a bit!

I'd say you want to list many more items and more frequently, it's easier to be found if there is more of you to go around.

I think your pictures are fine and so are your prices. I think you need to increase your inventory to increase your sales. There is one very successful vintage seller on this team and she has around 750 items. With that much selection it's not wonder she is successful. I know you cant go from 41 items to 750 overnight but keep working on it & I bet your sales will increase with it.

First of all I love your pics! I think they work perfectly with vintage items. Your shop has a lovely sense of nostalgia. The bright backgrounds used make them pop.

My only thoughts (as I'm new too and selling vintage) is looking into advertising through wanelo.com if you haven't already and using the wanelo etsy team to promote your wanelo page.

Also business cards? Just did that myself and I'm trying to find good spots to distribute them, posting on bulletin boards.

I really like your photos. Many of them look like they tell a story with the way you have them propped.

I think you could tweak your keywords and use more phrases and fewer single word tags. For example, on this item:

http://www.etsy.com/listing/76255691/pyrex-woodland-mixing-bowl

Instead of "fall" you might try "fall bowl" or "fall decor" or "fall kitchen" -- Try your search terms (tags) on Etsy and see what they bring up. It's better to be more specific. Think about how you search for items online.

Good luck!

I saw your page and it seems like you have great lighting, interesting photography and how it is worded. It is very interesting that nowadays - every little thing counts to make a great sale - all about marketing yourself

I like your page. I read somewhere that keeping it uniform helps, for example, I try to use the same background in all of my pictures, it keeps the continuity smooth.

Also keep up on your FB page and make a Twitter. Promote, promote, promote! :)

Oh, and also-list as many things as you possibly can...go to as many flea markets, estate sales, garage sales, garbage digging as you can! The more items, the more hits, the more sales!! I've found that helps. I try to upload a few things every day or so, if I can.
