Views are bizarre!!!!

Yesterday I had over 100. Today I have had about 25...but the day is young! I'm not sure why the fluctuation...other than perhaps some treasuries that I was featured in? But SUCH a big difference. So my question is: does it REALLY matter? (I'm still in a self-help group to QUIT looking at the darn #s but obviously, I haven't yet broken the habit, lol).

I am horribly addicted to watching my view count. I usually have over 100 per day, and today I am at 4. Yes, single digits... I'm a bit concerned, but watching the view count isn't getting me anywhere! I like your idea of a self help group! =)

Ahh, checking your stats is so addictive! I am trying to ration the number of times I look but failing miserably.
Could it be that you have less views because the weekend is over and people are back to work?
Bottom line is, nope, it doesn't matter. Sometimes you only just need that one view to make a sale.
Not sure what time it is where you are, but it's 11pm here, my bed time, well, after I had a peek at my stats :)
I'm sure the views will come!

Hi Judy,

If you are happy with your average amount of views per day, I wouldn't worry about it. It's nice when you get a hugely larger-than-normal amount of views and you can usually tell where they come from by your traffic sources. I've been on the FP a few times and never gotten a direct sale from it, although I think maybe the huge amount of circles and favorites I've gotten from that may have contributed to a future sale. Low-view days suck and are somewhat baffling, but they don't tend to have any long-term effect at all. I've found though that a gradual increase in views over time is what helps sales, and those weird fluctuations in views don't matter much.

I'm a total "view addict" too. My view count is a lot lower than normal today as well but I did receive a decent size order so it just goes to show that you only need 1 view.

I will also join the group. When do classes start ? :) I get so confused with the drastic drop of "numbers" from one day to another. I have learned that while I spend my day and night with fingers pushing on the keys, I get views ; if I clean house, work in the yard, or leave the house, well, shop appears to be closed. Or so the "numbers" show. I really am open.

Glad to see I'm not the only one trying my best not to watch the numbers & failing! I catch myself so often that I've decided to move botg computer & phone into another room while creating!
Only 11 views so far today...eek!

I am firmly starting to believe that views mean absolutely nothing. As do favorites. I go from 60 or 70 to single digits, and back. Not that this stops me from checking about a zillion times per day, but yeah.

Honestly, I really don't think lots of views (or LACK of views) mean very much at all ... at least not in terms of making sales. So even though I'm the President of the organization (of self~admitted view addicts) ... I really don't sit around worrying about it. I'm all about making new items, LISTING new items and keeping up on SEO's & tags and all that good stuff.

Maybe there should be a team specifically dedicated to all of us 'view addicts'. :)

I've had high view days with no sales and low view days with sales...you think this would teach me to not concentrate so much on my views...what can I say...I'm a work in progress. :)

I love this team (I mean Etsy Success). I guess it wouldn't be disloyal to create another team? I mean, I belong to about 20 teams as it is!! Why not one more?? I've been noticing the same pattern for a while now - over 100 one day, 50 or 60 the next - and it really is every other day. Very strange!

I'm a view addict too!! When my views are higher I make more sales so i'm driven to make my views a certain number sometimes.....lately I have to say despite my best efforts they have been down?

If you are fortunate enough to have an item on front page in a treasury at peak times you may enjoy hundreds of extra views.
I have experienced the first week in March when a vintage greenhouse in my shop was featured in an etsy newsletter and received over 6000 views in a period of about 5 days...amazing!
