Re: Valentines Day Category Added

Mary I didn't see it at all today. I will have to see if it was just my eyes not seeing it. I have been adding Valentine onesies all year.

Re: Valentines Day Category Added

I have been working on a few listings today but can't get them to show up. I wish they had jewelry broken down more, i.e. earrings and necklaces.

Re: Valentines Day Category Added

I'd like to know that too. A few bags in Valentines's day category DO NOT have Valentine's day in their tittle, description or title. So, what's the deal here??

Re: Valentines Day Category Added

I hope to make it in there this year! I've been tagging and changing my titles to reflect Valentine's Day gift themes/ideas. I added a section in my shop as well, but I don't know if that'll get many views.

Re: Valentines Day Category Added

I added Valentine's day into titles, descriptions, tags and sections on some of my items, but they don't show in Valentine's day Category. But they do show up if I search under Valentine's day on Etsy main page. So, what do I have to do, to be in V's day Category?? Anyone knows?

Re: Valentines Day Category Added

I believe categories are curated by Etsy staff... At least the first few pages of each category. There's not much more one can do than have good tags and titles, great photos, and hope to be found by the staff member curating it!

Re: Valentines Day Category Added

I had no trouble showing up in the Holiday browse category. I am not certain it is curated. Such a mystery.

Re: Valentines Day Category Added

I've got Valentine's Day as tags...but not in title. Or description...perhaps I should add it?

Re: Valentines Day Category Added

When they first introduced browse sections Etsy said they would be choosing the items for browse. I'm sure it would help to have something about Valentine's Day in tags and titles, but they may search for items in other ways such as pink, red, hearts, etc.

Re: Valentines Day Category Added

Another thing I always wonder is whether or not to use the apostrophe. I think the "official" way to write the holiday is Valentine's Day, but I know many people these days write Valentines Day. Any ideas about whether we need to have BOTH in tags and/or titles to show up? I was wondering if I use the apostrophe and a buyer is searching without an apostrophe, whether or not my item will show up.

I tried a search using both ways. 213,704 items no matter how I spell it.

Re: Valentines Day Category Added

Do you think people are more likely to type in Valentine's Day _____, or Valentine ______?

Re: Valentines Day Category Added

In the Etsy search bar at the top of the page, start typing: valen

Then you can see what comes up. Those are the most searched for terms on Etsy. First is valentines day, then valentine, then valentino, then valentine wreath, and then valentine's day.

Re: Valentines Day Category Added

I have to say I really don't like the curated browsing categories. It's just more of what Etsy staff thinks is "cool" to promote. My views have gone way down since they went away from the old categories on the front page (and also since the search was changed, though I try really hard to use good tags!). Valentines jewelry looks like a bunch of personalized stuff, stuff that may or may not have anything to do with Valentine's Day. I make what I think is tasteful heart jewelry, and I don't see mine nor anyone else's in there that is similar.

Sorry if I seem grumpy, I'm still frustrated after a very poor Christmas season, which is usually a really decent time for me on Etsy.

If anyone has any tips for getting found (besides all the Etsy articles which I have read and tried to follow), or insights into these curated or partially curated browsing categories, I'd love to hear!

I'm wondering for more specific items. At the moment I only have one Vslentine's day item and it's a ring. I'm not showing up at all for Valentine's Day jewelry, so I have it titled Valentine's Day ring which doesn't come up automatically under search until you type in Valentine ri and nothing automatically comes up with Valentine's Day ring. So I can go either way and am wondering which would be best. Personally if I were searching I would type in Valentine's Day before I would type in Valentine. But I don't know what others do.
