Vacation Mode

I may just be paranoid, but a week and a half ago I put my shop on vacation mode because I was doing a craft show that weekend. Up until that point, I was averaging about 4 sales a week. It has now been 9 days since I "returned" from vacation, and I haven't sold anything. This is just bizarre. Is it just my imagination or does going on vacation mode potentially reduce your sales? This was my first time doing it so I just wondered what others have encountered.

I have had this problem before and heard from others that it takes a few weeks to get going again!

Wouldn't you know, as soon as I typed this, I got a sale. Ha Ha! I do think there is something to that vacation mode though.

I've read other threads about this... basically, vacation mode makes your shop invisible, which means that Google doesn't see it during that time either.

Most people experience a significant drop in views after coming back from vacation.

I personally put up a message saying, "I'm away, I will ship all orders when I get back", and haven't had a problem... it's a way to keep your views up.

I think that's what I'm going to do next time. I just didn't want to sell something at the show that was listed on etsy. It might be better if I just deactivate the items that I can't duplicate. I have definately learned my lesson. Ha Ha!! It took 10 days to get another sale! I've noticed since that 1 sale though, that my views have gone way up.

Some people make separate line for their craft shows because of this (among other reasons). A lot of people see a significant drop in views after vacation mode. Luckily, most of my line is easily reproduced, so I only have to deactivate a couple 'one of a kind' items or choose to not take them.

I really wish the shop would still be visible in search engines. I followed the lead of other shops and offered a 15% discount if people wanted something ordered during vacation mode....to thank them for their patience. But unfortunately, it didn't work for me. I'm still under average for my sales.
