Twitter...

I'm wondering if anyone has any tips for me about using Twitter? I have an account, but I have really no idea about how it works, and if it actually has much potential to bring traffic to my shop. What's your experience with it? I like social media but I don't "get" Twitter...and I'd like too learn more.

Thanks!

Re: Twitter...

I have been on Twitter for two years and have posted almost 2000 tweets. I can only point to one Etsy sale that came from it. The big problem is that it is time consuming if your posts are good quality and interactive. And if you want to be followed "for sale" or "Up On Etsy" can't be more than about 10% of total.

Re: Twitter...

I think about 50% of my sales come from my Twitter page so for me Twitter is really worth having and putting time into and is also something I really enjoy doing.

My tips would be not to use twitter just to post links to items in your shop and just to promote your shop.

1/3 shop related
1/3 You related
1/3 Other interesting things you have found

That seems to work for me :)

Good luck :)

Re: Twitter...

I get tons of views from Twitter. At first I didn't like it didn't understand it but I read some tips and it's getting easier. Every item you list you should hit that post to Twitter button to get the ball rolling on your views. The percentagr Dorothy put up there is perfect and I agree. I have sone patience followers becausr it was nothing but listing for awhile but I'm starting to include post about other things. Also look at the what's trending #whatever and write a post that relates to your business. I always get followers after I do that. Hope that helps I'm a rambler lol :-) Good Luck!

Re: Twitter...

I love twitter, I am fairly new to Etsy (1 month) but I got one sale from twitter, use hashtags to talk about other things related to you or your shop, don't simply post about your shop. This is what I do, 2/3 about me and beauty related tips and the rest shop sneak-peeks and announcements, instagram also helps. You can follow me at @amornaturals or my main twitter account @styleamor

Re: Twitter...

I love twitter! I have also made sales via twitter and have interesting people follow me and even promote me to my target market, for free!

The trick with twitter is not to just tweet about your business. Tweet about yourself, your life, interests... with the occasionally self promotion.

Make use of hash tags # they categorise your tweets, so people can find you. Example: I love these shoes! #fashion

The hash tag means anyone else who uses the same has tag or anyone who searches this hash tag will see your tweet.

If you look or seem interesting they will see your profile, follow you and check out your shop! You should also communicate with fellow tweeters and retweet anything you like.

My twitter is @UYJewellery

Re: Twitter...

I have just started using twitter too! I can tell a drastic change in my shop stats when I tweet items from my shop and use hashtags that correlate to that item I try to do a few a day! I don't know that it has helped my sales but it has for sure driven up my shop views! Thanks for all the tips from everyone!!

Re: Twitter...

I've been on twitter a while now and still struggle with it. I understand the idea of balancing out your tweets, not just posting things for sale, treasuries etc. I guess I just find it difficult to know what to tweet about without making it too personal.

Will keep persevering and love hearing about those of you who are making it work so well for you.
