Trending items

Hi!

Anybody knows if there is a rule or a way to know how some items are in the "trending items" section?
There is a minimun of sales, favorites, views... or what?

Back in the old days, etsy has a tracker called "Time Machine and Recently SOLD". BOTH were key to seeing what was published and what was currently selling.

They were a very cool feature, a feature like many helpful tools that has gone on the way-side for sellers here.

I think it is the amount of views. I have had a few items in the "Trending Items" that had a ridiculous amount of spike in views which lead to sales. The "Trending Items" hasn't updated in quite a long time. I don't know what Etsy is doing with it.

Is it just me or are the "trending items" always the same? What's the point of clicking on that page if it's forever the same items over and over?! Nothing new, same stuff everyday of the week.

Roberta, If you check on your stats, under "Traffic Sources on Etsy" it should say "trending items" if your listing was ever on that page. I think to get on that page you need the item to be hearted many times. I don't think it has to do with sales.

I have also noticed that trending items has not changed for quite awhile - I always like to look at it and have had a mobile in it at different times. I would typically get into it when I had sold quite a few of that particular listing in a short period of time.

With hundreds of thousands of shops here on Etsy, I don't understand why the trending items are always the same. I have stopped checking that page since I pretty much know all the items by heart. Kind of sad. It would be nice if they rotated the shops, that way we can discover more unique finds.

Time Machine showed the sellers what people were interested in. What they bought. How they were spending their money HERE.

NOW, etsy shows you by using the term "Trending".......Your products are ....trending.....Roberta's products are trending.

etsy doesn't want the customer to be independent shoppers they want to FEED them Trends.

actually not really sure HOW that works as if it is based off sales, it should be a lot of supplies in there? Also vintage would rarely be there as most vintage is a OOAK item situation. If I had a vintage item with tons of hearts and no sales, I'd think maybe I had it priced too high. If it sold quickly it would not generate enough hearts to be trending? Is there truly some sort of algorithm that gets your item there or are they "picked" by admin? *off to check trending*

For me, I wouldn't even want to compete with what etsy thinks is trending. That's their business plan.

I have three shops here, I make, sell and build a customer base by offering originals.... "the only one" T.O.O. and thank goodness there are still shoppers who understand that concept and chose to purchase from me.

I'm old man, I don't have the patience or tolerance for what's trending in etsy world or pop culture.
