To Etsy Bloggers and Website Operators (WordPress)

Hello Etsy-iers,

This is actually more directed to Bloggers (WordPress) and Etsy Sellers who have a WordPress website, but anyone can join :)

My wife has a shop here on Etsy, we love this platform, and we constantly get inspired by the beautiful creations here. We started building a site together for her shop, but were surprised how WordPress and Etsy have very little in common in terms of tools and connectivity.

To solve this, as a professional web developer, I have started to write a package of Plugins and Tools that connect WordPress and Etsy and add functionality to WordPress that might be needed for Etsy Bloggers.

So Far, the products that are on my todo list are :
1 - A Shortcodes pack, that will allows easy embedding of listings to your posts and pages. allowing single or multiple listings, and/or possibly treasuries.

2 - A Slider to showcase your listing or multiple listings, in a modern, animated and high quality (large image) way. Could be used in posts, or front page.

3 - A Widget pack that allows displaying listings on your site (this one is finished already and available in my shop).

I was wondering, does anyone of you missing similar functionality ? Or is interested in something different from that list ?

I would be happy to create and offer here on Etsy (I will offer free support and free future upgrades on all items).

Best of luck! and thanks in advance for any offer!

Cheers,
Nimo

Hi Nimo, all this sounds great! Here's one thing that comes to mind, and I don't see it listed - compatibility with responsive layouts. It could be optional, for people to either choose a fixed size if that is what they need, or let the widget take the parent element size and scale itself based on it if the WP theme is already responsive. Great project though! Good luck!

Thanks for the Input Rumi!

Widgets inherit the width of their parent by default, which makes them as responsive as the currently installed theme is. I will consider allowing fixed width as well. Thanks again.

Hello again, I have added new widgets (allowing to display treasuries, user profiles and different listings).

Next thing I'm going to tackle is shortcodes, which will allow you to display listings, sections, treasuries (and more) in single pages and posts easily.

Best of luck!

I actually use Blogger, but this has gotten me pretty excited! Good idea. :)

Hey Alicia! I highly recommend WordPress over blogger, mostly due to its customizabilty. You can easily migrate your content from blogger to wordpress.

I added another widget - this one allows you to display your shop's about in your sidebar, including a selection of your listings, related links and more.

Check it if you're interested.

Best of luck!
