It seems like there's a lot of newbies here that are asking the same question.

I thought creating a new thread with advice for all newbies to help them as a point of reference.

2. Create High-Quality Photography
3. Network and Promote Yourself

To add to the list https://www.creativelive.com has some Wonderful classes on photography, advertising, creativity.
It's "free" IF you can watch while it's going on.........if you have idk life stuffs got to pay to watch at another time. But it's still a good resource.

But like I watched john greengo's photography course, and it helped my photography a LOT. Like leaps n bounds..... feel like I understand what I am doing now more then just click and hope........

Thank you Nikki....I really need help. I read some notes from the new seller's handbook And my shop and items are not to far for the advises here. Maybe I need to read about the shop makeover, is that the newest?

I have been here with etsy for almost 10 years, and this year's has been so bad for me.....and every day is worst and worst for me.....something is not right..... :(

Yes Fjodors, I understood. And since the answer is complex, Nikki started this thread to point out the places where you can find the information that you need to achieve that.
Becoming a successful seller requires talent and a lot of hard work and dedication. If you want to know what you need to do, check out the links in the original post.

I've been selling on Etsy since 2006 (1 year after Etsy was founded) and this is the best advice I can give you.

And for the sellers asking, "What am I doing wrong?" The answer might be simple: By simply opening an shop with very little research with the exception that sales will just flood in.

I fell into this mindset when I first started. I had no idea what SEO was. I assumed that photos didn't matter. I thought if I posted once or twice on my FB that was substantial "marketing." I expected too much on very little work. I often sat there going, "What am I doing wrong." I was doing nothing, an that was wrong.

I started this thread to help new sellers to know, "Hey, here's a nice start on the research you need to do." Like Bea said, it takes hard work and dedication. Its not easy to get your sales rolling in. But its worth it when it happens.
