Tips for Getting Featured on Etsy

Hi everyone!
One question I often hear from sellers on our Etsy Success social media channels and elsewhere is, "How can I get featured?”

Though the selection process differs by channel (whether you're hoping to be featured in an Etsy Finds email, the Seller Handbook, one of Etsy's social media channels, or elsewhere), there are common qualities that Etsy editors and merchandisers look for when choosing products and shops to highlight. Yes, I was featured on someone else's Facebook page - Baby-boomer's and Mature women's clothing, and it did get me a little attention. I just didn't know how to run with it, or how she found me. Hopefully I'll be more prepared and do better next time.

it is hard though when there so many shops to be featured but one day everyone hopes to be selected! we will read all the relevant articles and do our best! I do also believe that Etsy chose the shops a bit randomly but at least if we are doing all the right things, we can say we did our best ;)

Thanks for the tips in the article. I don't worry about getting featured - I doubt I will, because I use watermarks in my listing photos. My listing images wander around all over the web and people usually don't credit the author of the image, so having a watermark protects them (somewhat) but also creates a contact source when viewers see the Etsy listing image somewhere else.

What I might start doing is include a business card in the staging of some item photos. That will reinforce branding and discretely include store contact info.

I've been lucky enough to be featured in a couple of places over the last couple of years both in print and online, but last month I got my first feature on Etsy as the cover shot of the Community news post: https://www.etsy.com/au/seller-handbook/article/etsy-community-news-april-2016/40261188057 which was fantastic, it drove a lot of traffic to my shop and I ended up with quite a few smiling Sunny faces staring back at me for a good week afterwards :D

I think the biggest thing is to make sure your photo's are clear, and convey the message you want to send out to your customers. If you're selling high end luxury items, make sure the photo's convey that... if your product is cute and fun, make sure that fun is the name of the game in your images. Remember that the customer can not physically see/touch your item so the images have to give them as much detail as possible.

We are 'Quit Your Day Job' Etsians and socially active members of the community on Etsy as the team captain of the Etsy Giving Team, a team leader on the Hampton Roads Etsy Team, and an active member of the Christmas in July team. This has been an exciting spring for us in our teams with the development of two charity apps in the Etsy Giving community, we have been working with a local mall to have an Etsy Fair at the mall in the near future, and we have been featured in a number of articles written by the team leaders of the Christmas in July team.

Our shop has taken on a number of interesting graphic design projects, we have been adding new products, and we have created a number of new design options. We have been totally redoing our Etsy shop including calculated shipping on all listings and updating tags and sections to keep up with all of the changes on Etsy. We are also working to add a few additional items before Father's Day and then getting ready for Christmas in July. Unfortunately the #EtsyCraftParty is going to take place on a busy weekend, but we would love to participate if we could.

Keep us in mind for all of your gift giving occasions and let us know if you are interested in becoming a team leader on the Etsy Giving team. We are looking for members of the Giving community to volunteer for the team effort and give a small amount of time to continue to spread the word about the wonderful shops on Etsy and the causes that they support.

We were fortunate to have been featured last year as a "fresh shop" in an etsy email blast! Truly honored.
As well, our Rose Gold Taylor Hair Chain is a pin on the etsy Weddings pinterest board! We wondered why we were getting so many sales on this little hair chain and then found out about the pin!
