Time frame

Any thoughts on how far in advance someone would shop for a holiday item? For example is it Easter shopping time? Or time to list Mother's or father's day time yet?

I want to have items for sale with these themes but don't want to be overlooked when my listings are at the back of the search because I'm too early. -K

Re: Time frame

I aim for at the very least 2 months before the holiday. I try to do earlier but I'm so bad at thinking that far in advance.

Re: Time frame

I would definitely use the 2 month mark as well (at least) It takes at least 1-2 weeks for my items to get to different locations in the States (Canada post seems to be rather slow sometimes). I also have to factor in extra time in case someone places a custom order for a holiday item.

Re: Time frame

It depends on whom you are trying to attract... I think the average shopper makes purchases for holidays fairly close to the actual holiday (I've been selling St. Patricks items for about a month now) and my busiest time for Christmas is generally right after American Thanksgiving. However blogs, magazines, and holidays specific shops (for wholesale for example) shop many many months in advance (like June for the Christmas issue, May for Halloween). Relevancy kind of changed the whole back of the pack in terms of search. However I do renew my items from time to time... I think .20 is a small investment.

Re: Time frame

I was wondering this myself. I think I'll just put up my mothers day item now.
