Attention women owned businesses!! Pls read

I wanted to share with my team a very special, very important movement, supporting woman owned businesses.

The event itself takes place May 1st 2014. The event was launched to encourage consumers to support woman owned businesses, by purchasing from a woman owned business May 1st. There is a (google) directory of woman owned businesses to buy fro the du of event, you can register (free) to be in this directory. (Think free publicity for your shop/name)

If you all have Facebook, there is an event invite there, which has more details.
RSVP-ing to this event means you are In support of this event: promoting women and their businesses, or plan to buy fro a woman owned business that day.

This is a huge movement. Please take the time to check it out. And share share share.

I'm happy to buy handmade on that day. Most handcrafted shops are owned by women, but I won't discriminate. With handmade, we're all in this together!

I don't see a point in singling out women owned businesses.
It used to be men owned businesses.
For me it doesn't matter whether a man or a woman owns a business.
It sounds like starting sex discrimination all over again to me, but now from the 'other camps' point of view. Let's just forget about camps.

Plus, really, no matter what you support (buying handmade, buying local, etc.) it is some form of discrimination. I see nothing wrong with supporting other female business owners. But I also don't see anything wrong with supporting male business owners. I think it is being over thought. :)
