Thank you USPS

I'm trying to track down a package that has dropped off the USPS radar. The USPS asked if I could do it myself. No problem. She gave me an 800 number and told me to call to get the phone number of the destination post office.

Apparently, the USPS is cutting back on their phone bill, because it was no longer a USPS phone. It is now a Hot Date phone line.

Re: Thank you USPS

Are you sure you dialed 1-800? Those are usually 900 numbers. A misdial could be embarrassing for everyone!

Re: Thank you USPS

I'm amazed your were ever able to speak to a real live person at all! The people on the 800 number are contractors and are not federal employees, so they're usually less helpful than if you actually visit your local PO. They've had the 800 number forever, so I don't think it's a new change.

Re: Thank you USPS

Nope, it was an 800 number. The embarassed postal employee crossed it off her list and gave me a different number.

I gave up trying to call the main post office. They don't answer and their mailbox is full. I called my local post office and they actually answer the phone!

Re: Thank you USPS

I recently had a customer reach out to me - she never got the earrings she ordered and the last scan from the USPS was from two weeks ago. When she called the customer service line, they told her what she already knew from the website and said that they couldn't help further. This is the first time that one of my packages has been lost by the USPS but it is really frustrating when they don't help. They shouldn't even have an 800 number if they are going to tell customers they can't help!

Re: Thank you USPS

I had this happen to me last month. I filed a non-delivery of a package on USPS.com and within a few hours I got a call with the location of the package with the option of my customer going to pick it up or have it delivered the next day. They were very helpful that day, I was quite impressed.

Re: Thank you USPS

ive never heard of that happening with tracking! eesh. I had my 1st lost in transit package, so I get the tracking # for each and every one. that's so annoying it can still happen, and the ridiculousness with the 800#. ive heard rumors that they might stop Saturday mail. I would hate that. has anyone else heard any talk of that?

Re: Thank you USPS

I have yet to find anyone helpful at the other end of the USPS 800-number. :/ The station manager at my local PO is much better.

It's not a rumor, it's a fact.

They either have people stealing or things falling out of the truck.

Re: Thank you USPS

Wow knock wood I've had the total opposite experience with the USPS. T Russia and ITaly cheapest and fastest and were totally helpful. Give them another chance to make it right. Bet they will.
