Should I change my shop name if I am going to carry different product types?

Hi, I am reopening my shop after a few years and am now making different items. I had been making and listing blankets and quilts but now I am making small accessories like change purses, cosmetic pouches, and small goods out of materials like upcycled leather, cashmere and suede. Should I change my shop name? Totally revamp everything and remove the old items? I need lots of help!

My shop is called blanket statements. Thank you!

I like the name Blanket Statements. It's catchy and memorable. It's up to you whether you want to keep it. You DO have blankets in your shop, along with other sewn items as well.

May I make a suggestion that will help you with SEO? I noticed you have "blanketstatements" typed all spaced out as your shop title. Your shop title is the line of text right below "Blanket Statements" under your banner. Your shop title should say exactly what you sell (not repeat your shop name). This is what search engines like google pick up on. The way you have it set up now the search engines can't read it at all. For example, for your shop it could say "Handmade quilts, blankets, pillows, accessories." You're only given so many characters so keep it brief and to the point.

I closed this shop for almost 3 years and reopened in Oct. 2012. I originally sold my cards and my daughter's jewelry. When I reopened I changed the name to reflect that I'm strictly paper crafts now. It's also a name I've used elsewhere online and I wanted to brand my shop. It has worked very well for me. I think your name as it is still works with the new lines you want to create. Keep in mind that Etsy will only let you change it once so make sure it's something you really want (and make sure it's not a trademarked or copyrighted name).

Well... a blanket statement is a broad, overarching term, and your products are varying... so your shop name is actually pretty accurate :P

I think blanket statements accurate described blankets, now that your selling new items purses ect. With cool materials like leather I think its just screaming for a name change and a revamp. I changed my name to reflect the overall goal of my business not just upcycled home decor where I am now but also where I hope to be one day with a full line of home decor products. The name change was great for me and I'm currently doing another revamp. Practice makes perfect and its all trial and error. I would keep the old items and just put them onthe back pages that way they will still draw people into your shop.

Good Luck!
