Short Vent

I wish they had a policies section for sellers on Tophatter, like Etsy does!

Recently, I had a customer who upon receipt of the earrings I sent her, she said that the crystal was split directly in half and asked for me to send another crystal. This is the first time this has ever happened, so I gave her the benefit of the doubt and mailed her another crystal thinking it was a goof-up in the shipping. Upon receipt of the crystal, she said that the crystal was "rounder" and "not rectangular like the other one." She asked me to send a second crystal!! This made me slightly frustrated since the crystal was from the same strand I used for the other earrings! I cannot stress this enough. The crystals are exactly the same.

I offered her a refund and told her that I wouldn't be able to send another crystal and am currently waiting for her response.

What this boils down to is...I wish Tophatter had a policies section for sellers. Currently, it seems like there's no protection for the seller and the seller will jump through hoops, just to make sure they don't get bad feedback.

Has anyone else had a similar experience like this on TH? Usually the customers are great, but this one...sigh. Okay, I'm done venting.

Re: Short Vent

I'm not even sure what Top Hatter is. But I would just stick to what your Etsy policies are. If anyone has any questions, have them refer to your shop and it's policies. Keeps it all unified and you can still do what you feel is right.

I think in that situation you did the best you could. It almost sounds like they were just wanting extra crystals for whatever reason. If I had bought a pair of earrings, received a "different" replacement crystal, I would have just returned everything. So it's a little odd that s/he kept requesting more crystals.

TopHatter's an auction site - tophatter.com. You can sell your handmade items there. I would recommend it. It's an easy way to sell continuously but for pretty cheap (from what I've seen).

I agree!! And also that's a great idea - I will definitely refer to the policies here since they're pretty clear. Thanks for the support <3 made me feel a little less crazy! :)

Re: Short Vent

Tophatter is pretty new and they're still working out a lot of kinks. A seller's policies section would be a good thing to suggest to them.

Re: Short Vent

I agree with Kay. If I would receive a completely different crystal on the 2nd shipment and if the first one was in fact cracked in half, I would return everything for my refund.

Re: Short Vent

Thanks for your feedback!! It's very comforting to hear.

Yes, Judy, I did send them an email with my suggestion so hopefully they'll think of something on that front.
