Hello,

My name is Udi and I'm the owner of 'Message in a Bubble' which is an original pop art store offering hand painted wooden speech bubbles with customized quotes.

I'm looking for feedback cause my store has been on air for three months now and even though I got some traffic I haven't made any sale.

I believe very much in my products cause it's original and pretty cool so what am I missing or can do better.

Hi Udi,

Ok I'm going to be really honest, because no one else dares.

I felt the main photo was misleading. (I realised later that is wasn't!) I first thought the listed photo was created in photoshop with a bubble stuck over a photo so you were giving an idea of how the product would look. This gives a lazy impression. When I looked at other images I could see they were actual boards. I think the photos aren't helping you here.

I like the idea behind your products, but I don't like the products. (They are a bit plain.) I think you need to develop this idea further. You could paint on unpainted wood. Plywood is popular at the moment and I love it when it's left unpainted. How about introducing colour. Also look into changing the font, you can purchase really cool fonts online.

How about adding more variations of the bubbles? There are tones of variations. Thought bubbles, jagged bubbles etc

Your main photo could depict a person with a thought bubble behind them on the wall. Write something funny or quirky to make the customer smile. Could you be really creative and have all the people in your main photo talking and then position the listings (You can rearrange your shop) to that they look like they are talking to each other.

How about using blackboard paint and enabling customers to write their own quotes etc? that would be cool.

You have to give it longer than 3 months!

Keep doing what you are doing, work on making more products, add more listings, work on your tags, and be a little patient ;)

The item is fine; if you do everything else right (photography, SEO, pricing, etc.) you will see whether it is an item that has traction. I don't think it's a bad product off-hand, or too plain.

However, the first photo doesn't really make it clear what it is. In fact, I can't find a single straight-on view of an actual finished product in your shop, in any of the photos. This is a photo you need to take, and probably use as the first photo in most listings.

I've already changed my tagging and it's starting to show better results.
Still no sale though so I'll be happy for further advice if you have any.

I quite like Donna's ideas to improve the pictures! Having a person hold up the bubbles would be awesome and fun. Etsy generally likes bright backgrounds - perhaps have the person stand against a white wall.
