Shop Critiques Needed Please

Thanks for reading my query... Right now, I'm selling pillows on my shop. I have a few listed but have yet to make a sale. I've had several people check out my product. A few people have also "favorited" certain items or the whole shop. However, I still haven't enticed anyone enough to seal the deal and make a purchase. I'm not sure what the problem is. Do I need to take better photos? Do I need better or more product? Are the prices too high? Do I just need to be patient as my shop is still fairly new? I don't know... I'm still incredibly excited with the idea of selling what I craft, but I'm not sure if I'm going about it correctly on Etsy.

I welcome any suggestions/input.

Thanks, again, for your time!

Re: Shop Critiques Needed Please

Like you I am new to Etsy and was very fortunate to get some valuable advise from other etsy sellers. Here are a few things I noticed and suggestions that helped me:

- Change your shop icon from a picture of yourself (you are very handsome) to one of your colorful pillows. This way when you post a comment in a thread, people immediately see what you sell and are more likely to take a peek in your shop.

- When taking your photos, make the background white. I simply purchased two pieces of foam core at a craft store and use them as my background. Initially I created interesting vignettes and everyone told me that although the photos were beautiful, my pillows didn't stand out.

- Your titles are descriptive, but the first three words need to include phrasing that someone searching for a pillow will use (ie. lumbar pillow with green silk print, or Mod pillow with .....)

- My pillows, which are rather ornate weren't selling so I made something seasonal to help draw people into my shop. It worked. So, think about making something smaller like fabric cuffs or something for the next big holiday.

- Do you re-list regularly? Do a search for one of your pillows and if they appear after the 10th page you better re-list more often. People won't take the time to go much further than the 5th or 6th page.

- one last thing, participating in the various teams and forums will really help improve your visibility.

I hope this is helpful. It certainly helped me when I started two months ago.

Good luck to a fellow pillow person,

JoJo

Great advice JoJo.

Quite Posh Your pricing and shipping seems to be good (I took a look at a few other pillow shops for comparison). You should probably try to get some pillows listed ... and maybe even try to think of a niche market. Offer different custom listings. For example: Custom made pillows from your fabric (for each size pillow tell them how much fabric they need to send you example 1/2 yard) and how long it will take once you receive the fabric ... Additionally, there seems to be a big wedding market on etsy ... so maybe even do a listing for a ringbearer's pillow. Apparently there are more than 800,000 sellers (worldwide) on etsy so it is a fierce market. You can do it!

Lovely pillows, QuitePosh! One other trick I read that I really think helps is including a link to your store at the bottom of each of your listings. It gets people to look at more of your items. I think your descriptions and prices are very good, though! I think just having more products in your store will help a lot. Your fabric patterns are gorgeous! What about making some circular or other shapes of pillows? I could also see you expanding into placemats or table runners that complement your pillows. Best of luck. :)

Get some damn pink in there, son! Texture, texture, a little foo-foo, texture, and some damn pink, son! Get some transgender-y, transmorgified, contrast-y rhinoplasty in there, son. And some damn pink! Aqua! Where is the black and white with orange-all-over-the-place?
BTW, the prices and the quality look damn fine.

Wow Velvetrifle 123! I will definitely take your advice into consideration. I'm not much of a "pink" guy, but I will try to channel my inner girl to create some fabulously colorful creations! Love your comments! Thanks again.
