Shipping to Finland?

Has anyone done it? Any tips?

The only international shipping I've done is to Canada, but I know each country can be slightly different. I'd assume USPS is the best option?

I have never shipped internationally in connection with my Etsy shop.

I just came back from the post office, where I inquired about shipping a soft cover book to Israel, and this is what I found, after the agent weighed the book and a cardboard envelope in which I was going to ship the book (I found out they have no book rates for international shipping):

First-Class mail would be $19.45 Dollars and it would take from 5-10 days in transit (maybe a little longer). I would have to fill out 1 customs declaration form.

Express mail would be $38.00 Dollars and it would take 3-5 days in transit (perhaps 6 days) and I would have to fill out 2 custom declaration forms.

I understand you are inquiring about Finland, and I do not remember how much my book weighed, but perhaps you could access the post office internet size and get a better idea. The above is just some general information that I thought would be of interest.

One more thing. I mentioned above that I was informed by the post office that first class to Israel would take from 5 to 10 days in transit. The lady with whom I was communicating in Israel regarding the book just told me that in reality, items shipped to Israel first class from the US, take somewhere between 7 to 14 days in transit, instead.

I thought you would like to know that.

USPS First Class International is the cheapest option. (If you use paypal shipping, it is not offered as an option online). You'll need to fill out the customs form. There is no tracking for international, unless you do Fedex or UPS, but the rates are ridiculously high. The customs form you use, however, will have a number on it (begins with LC, ends with US) which can be used to track it while in the US.

International orders can take anywhere from 2 - 6+ weeks, so don't give a customer a guaranteed date. Based on feedback received, I've found international orders to usually take around three weeks.

I have several customers from there. Never had a problem. The usually receive it in 2 weeks.
