Same Item different colour different listing?

Sorry this is my second post today, but I have all these questions being so new.

I offer the same scarf in different colours. I currently am making a new listing each time I make the scarf in a different colour, do you think this is a good thing to do or should i just make one listing and in the listing show the different colours it is available in and then have the buyer choose?

I have them seperatly listed right now hoping to be found easier in searches....thoughts?

The more listings the more chances of being seen.

Its like the lottery...

buy one ticket, only have one chance, but 10 tickets, have ten chances.


Although I may have a few listings in which one item can come in multiple color.

Try doing both - see which one gets you more attention.

I agry with Sara, certainly as you are new.

After a while, when people know you, you can put some items maybe toghetter. You have to build up a group of clients so it's better to show everything. When you have your clients than you can start work out personal requests.

One last tip, soon it will be spring, hope you are already working on your spring and summer items. You don't want to miss the boat ..... (like they are saying by us)

List each item separately, it'll get you more views.

Do both. In my shop, I have an individual listing for each color an item is available in. Additionally, since we now have listing variations, I'm also making it so that each listing has the option for the customer to see and select from any color they want. I'm hoping to add this feature to all of my listings soon.

I did both in my shop. I have bracelets that are available in different colors. The ones I have already made are each listed individually and I also have a listing for custom orders where customers can choose a color.

As for spring items, I am starting to think about those and what exactly I can make that is knitted that will be relevent for spring. I do dishcloths so I am going to be adding those to my shop very soon. I've gotta come up with spring summer ideas!

Another vote for a separate listing for each color. One good reason for this is for treasury purposes: color is a big factor when people are creating treasuries, so if you offer listing variations and have a killer picture of a red scarf, then someone looking for blue or green items won't use your scarf even if you offer those colors in your variations.

Plus, the "show up in more searches" aspect is pretty convincing, too.

You can always offer variations and put links to the other colors in your item descriptions.

If you have just one listing with all the color choices, you'll spend a lot of unnecessary time chasing customers down who didn't put their color choice in the Notes to Seller box.

I'd make separate listings for each color.

I do different listings for each item. Not only does this give you greater chances of being found on etsy, it makes the purchasing easier for the buyer. They know exactly what they're getting - the color they want is right on the screen. Good luck!
