Re: STARTING AN ETSY SHOP TIPS!

Be sure to take clear pictures of your item. It is best to shoot all your items using either a white background or a background that compliments your item.

List as many items as you can. You don't have to do it all in one shot, but you do need to list. The more products, the more views and the possibility of sales.

Price your items accordingly. Don't over price or under price. Do some research on items that may already be out there to give you an idea.

Write a clear and precise description of your item and tags.

Don't be surprised if you don't make a sale right away. It takes a while. It all depends on what you sell and if there is a great demand for it.

If you do custom orders, mention it on your profile as well as your facebook page and any other venue you may have.

Most importantly, have fun and don't be afraid to ask any questions. No question is ever stupid.

I hope these tips help. It has helped me along the way.

Re: STARTING AN ETSY SHOP TIPS!

Your shop is lovely & I wish you the very best luck in the world, I really do. But do you have another shop that you've been running before this one? Because to be perfectly honest, I think I would be uneasy taking advice on opening and running an Etsy shop from someone who has been open 3 weeks. I'm not saying you don't know what you're talking about, but just that the topic might be a bit ambitious for a fledgling blog. Maybe focus on your experience as a new shopowner - it's more personal & engaging, and there's tons of info on how to set up shop right here on the site anyway.

Re: STARTING AN ETSY SHOP TIPS!

Jackie: thanks for the tips, i'll be sure to add to my list!

R.Rizzi My blog post was just supposed to be the advice i've found most helpful in the early stages of my shop, and getting it up and running. It is what has helped me the most while it is still fresh in my mind. I do not claim to be a professional at this (I mention this in the actual blogpost). I've been researching and getting feedback from successful etsy shops that I thought I would share. I'm sorry if you didn't find it useful. Yes, there's advice for everything everywhere, I just thought I would give my perspective as an etsy shop starting out, what I've been finding most helpful. Thanks for the feedback, but our opinions differ.

Re: STARTING AN ETSY SHOP TIPS!

I checked your blog. I want to start by saying that I don't have a blog and don't know how to start one. But I read blogs and subscriber to a handful that I enjoy reading. I checked your July posts and liked your pictures. Wish you had added a story to the items you photographed. I think more narrative will be the perfect complement to your lovely picture.
I have a FB page and one time I was learning to post a story I wrote about a Nativity set in installments. I sold that Nativity set in less than a week once it was completed. I haven't done that again because FB changed and I don't know how to use it anymore.
This is just a comment.
