Dark background for white items? How?

Hi everyone,

I have a lot of white candles and using the white fotofuze background just don't seem to work. Is there anything out there that does the same trick with black or plain different colored background?

What do you think? Is it even a good idea since most popular items usually have white/light backgrounds?

Thanks for your feedback!

I'd use a pale blue or grey background. Something neutral and pale.

If you have white items (I do myself so I feel your pain) it's totally OK to do a light box with black or one that has drops so you can change the background if you really want to go with the solid backgrounds. This article is on jewelery, but it might help.

You could also try playing around with your lighting, to get more of a shadowed/subdued light, rather than a bright light. I think a white item against a black background could look a little harsh.

Re: Dark background for white items? How?

dark grey is usually what I use if the item is too light to use on white. I'm not opposed to using black though. As long as your pictures are sharp, I think you should use whatever colour makes your item 'pop' the most. Just my opinion though. I'm not really into stark white everywhere. I always make sure my backgrounds are neutral coloured, plain, and I always use the macro settings on my camera.
By the way, your Halloween candles are really cute! ♥

Thank you for all your feedback. I'll try the grey/black background and see how it works out. I looked at all your stores and love Them! Good luck and thanks for your support!
