SEO and Promoting questions

After following and trying out a couple of things, still haven't figured how it works, so here is what I would like to hear from you if you know:
- Renewing and working on listings is supposed to help with SEO, still seems to me that my older listings that I have not bothered with are on front pages, instead my renewed and those I work on titles and tags are somewhere lost on next pages.
- I tried promoting with custom bidding and with automatic, only some selected items and all of them - don't really see any improvement in means of showing items I want to promote on front pages, as said before, I see the listings I don't promote and bother with there.

After approx 10 days of experiments I start wondering that maybe working on and promoting listings I want to show more I am doing damage instead of improve . What is your experience?

Changing your tags and titles too ofthen is bad for your seo I learned today from an experienced seo specialist.

I totally agree with you.
I have the same problem.
The more I work on my titles and tags in order to adjust to the new trends, the less views, hearts and sales I get.
I should have left them the way they where :-(

Thanks for the advice all, joined the group, left my listings "rest" and already see a little improvement in SEO and views -guess my constant changes confused the search engines, lol.
Also realize that there is no actual change in visibility (eg views and hearts) without promoting, but have to check it out long term to make sure.
