hello everyone,

I try to spend time each day improving my shop. One of the things I want to work on are receipts. Currently, I just print out the receipt that Etsy provides from the invoice and include that in the package to the customer. What do you do for your receipts?

Re: Receipts

I purchase online a lot and often forget what I ordered. So as a buyer I like a receipt. As a seller I just think it looks more professional. I'm including a thank you note anyway, so why not use the same paper.

Re: Receipts

I don't print receipts, never have and I never really think its been necessary. The buyer has copies of the transaction on PayPal, Etsy and their credit card, me printing another one will almost certainly get thrown away.

I know that when I get things in the mail, the receipt gets one look then goes straight in the garbage. What a waste.

I include a thank you card, a blank gift card (in case it is a gift) and a bunch of my business cards in the order - but never a receipt.

Re: Receipts

I have stopped printing receipts for Etsy sales, BUT I state this in my message to the buyer.

Re: Receipts

I'm one of those who always prints out a receipt and sends it inside the little thank-you card I send along. It gives the customer a little nudge to remember where the purchase came from.
And I appreciate getting a receipt when I order something for myself.

Re: Receipts

I always print a receipt. It would help if the package were lost (where the label was removed or damaged)

As a customer I expect to receive a receipt so I can verify as soon as I open the package that I got what I expected and paid what I expected.

I also use the receipt to enter the order information into my database - so I have the copy in front of me to type from. I print my database copy for my tax records and send the Etsy copy to the customer.

Re: Receipts

I have been placing the receipts in the box with their orders.  I am now considering, to stop this and just only add a thank you note card (4 x 6) in the packages instead.  If you look at many vendors and/or businesses; they do not include invoices because the customers have the invoice sent to them after their purchase.  And many buyers on Etsy are members or have an account, therefore, they can download this if there is any issues with their order.  I'm trying to cut cost down with paper and printer ink as well as be environmentally friendly.  As with shipping I will no longer be offering the guaranteed shipping.  Cost are going up everywhere including materials, shipping containers, paper, etc.  To me, cutting out the paper invoices is not only cutting down cost, it is also becoming more economically friendly and aware as I would feel the customers can relate to that as well.
