Quick photo question

Hi, guys! I know you can help me out here, just because you are totally awesome.
In the past I have used a stack of books in my photos to give a size reference and allow me to arrange the toys in different positions. But I thought using these alphabet wood blocks would be fun. What do you think? Is it too busy? I thought about using them in the shop banner too, spelling my shop name.

Re: Quick photo question

The blocks look much better than the books, which to my eyes, make a busier picture. And I really like your ides for using them in your banner...it would give a more cohesive look to your shop.

Re: Quick photo question

I like the blocks and think it's a great idea to use for your banner.

I also like the books, but I would use children's books, since I assume your items are geared towards children. The Edgar Allen Poe title throws me off when I see it next to a cute little bunny. I think of him as being on the morbid side.

Keep the blocks and maybe once in awhile use the books for something different to add some interest.

Re: Quick photo question

You market crochet animals. Blocks in your banner, to me, might mislead.

I like the blocks for props rather than the books. Would assume that the blocks would be read as a normal size childs wood block, therefore giving scale nicely. Your key chains and hand held listing photos are great , too.

Scale is so important. I need to work on that.

Re: Quick photo question

Thanks, guys! I really appreciate it. I have been thinking about redoing photos for quite some time, but I didn't want to spend any money before this business was officially in the black. Next step is to get a decent camera to replace this cheap point & shoot I have been using.

I thought blocks in the banner might be misleading, but I wouldn't be using just the blocks. I took a test shot yesterday and put it up as my FB page cover photo - http://www.facebook.com/SidruniHeegeldused. I just need to wait for a sunny day to get some natural light for a great quality shot to use in my banner. It has been cloudy or snowing for the past three weeks.

Re: Quick photo question

Thanks, Joanne! It's a combinations of using natural light, using reflectors to bounce back more light to the background and not the items, and some post production editing. I have to say, it is much harder to get nice clear and crisp images during winter where there is just not enough natural light.

Re: Quick photo question

Thanks for the tips :-)
They really are beautiful and must help you get soooo many views!
Tell me about the light- I live in England with a north facing garden lol. I am going to wait till the spring for a good photo shoot I think! If I couldn't scan my drawings I wouldn't be able to list anything at the moment!
