Question about treasury 'alert'

I am wondering if this is the right place to ask, but I will try.... :)

When your item is featured in a treasury, you sometimes receive convos about this.
I have always liked the idea and would do it myself. I was wondering though if there was a 'shortcut' way of doing this on Etsy, any tool that supports this, as it seems to be pretty time consuming to do it manually.

I do not find anything about this being considered spamming, so I hope it is not. I do like getting these alerts myself, especially since I have had more people in my circle and my activity feed has become busier.

Has anyone been doing this, and are you all doing it manually, one by one, copying in all the links, or am I missing something?

Re: Question about treasury 'alert'

There is a tool called shmetsy that I use to send convos. There is a download associated with it, but then all you have to do is click the icon in your browser that takes you to the site, where you can then send a convo to everyone in your treasury at once.

Re: Question about treasury 'alert'

I don't know about the shmetsy app, but it is recommended that we contact those we have included in our treasuries so I don't believe it to be spam.

Wow, thank you for the info Megan, that's just great! I will check it out.

So it's even recommended -- that's new to me too, good to know! :)

Re: Question about treasury 'alert'

thank you for the tip, cool extension! Wow, it is even working on Macs Safari.

I am glad to get those messages, otherwise I would miss being featured as my activity feed is far too long to see all.
And I never had a complaint, only thank-yous for sending messages.

Re: Question about treasury 'alert'

I love schmetsy, both the convo sender and treasury maker! I've seen people comment one different message boards about not liking to get the treasury notifications but they don't consider them spam...they just don't read them and delete them.

Personally, I appreciate the convo notifications, especially when I'm super busy. I feel terribly rude when I miss commenting on a treasury I'm featured in!!

Re: Question about treasury 'alert'

I'm really not a fan of these notifications. If you click on your activity feed, you can sort what things you want to see, focusing only on activity related to your own shop.

Re: Question about treasury 'alert'

That's right, but if I have no time to check that feed for one day, it no longer shows up. If the information comes in a convo, that gives it priority in busier times.... then I'm sure I am not missing it. Although I surely understand that there can be other considerations too ... :)

Re: Question about treasury 'alert'

I have to say that receiving 25+ convos a day with pretty much the same message is a little annoying, without mentioning that it's easy for a customer's message to get lost in the midst of that. So I have to click through any message without any subject line just to make sure I'm not missing out on a customer's question, and that is quite time consuming! So I would advice not to do it and let people check their activity feed. If you miss out on a treasury you have been featured in, it is NOT the end of the world.
I understand that is a very nice thing to do, but I think a lot of people feel the same way as I do.

Re: Question about treasury 'alert'

Particularly lately with the Activity Feed being a bit buggy, I do appreciate the convos letting me know when Ive been featured. However, I like to see "Treasury Time" or something similar at the start of the subject line so you know right away that its just a heads up, and can delay reading it until later if you choose, as opposed to a custom order coming in!

Re: Question about treasury 'alert'

Well, probably the best solution would be to be able to opt for a feature like this, in the way you can opt for email alerts on different events. Unfortunately Etsy is not offering it... just yet... as far as I know.

And the strategies and preferences are diverse, so it seems, probably depending on the type of product and ways of networking, etc., that people are choosing....

Actually, I have come upon an Etsy trial version of one of the features offered by shmetsy (tresury making by single clicks), but not this one, just yet...

Re: Question about treasury 'alert'

Where is it recommended you let people know you have included them in a Treasury?

Re: Question about treasury 'alert'

The point of treasuries is to promote and get views, so notifying folks is one way of making sure at least 16 people see them. I'm not sure if this is recommended in some sort of official etsy place, Sara, but every treasury team I've been involved with does require that we contact the treasured.

Re: Question about treasury 'alert'

Oops, pardon the double post.
The new feature that etsy just released that is helpful for treasury building does not have a convo feature. Shmetsy's convo feature, however, still works even if you have not made the treasury using shmetsy.
