Question about search

Okay, so I've read up a lot of stuff on the etsy search. I've tried to make sure my tags, description, titles, etc. are right on for what I'm searching, but it doesn't seem to make a difference when I search for my items. Most of the things in my shop are "rag dolls", so I search "rag dolls". The first doll of mine shows up on page four and it isn't even my best doll. If I keep searching after that it takes forever for anything else to show up! Am I doing something wrong? Can anyone see a reason to why I'm so far down on the list? Thank you!

Melissa - I feel your pain and have struggled with the same problem. I have two suggestions. One, work with one of your teams to brainstorm tags and try tagging your dolls differently. Second, check out your competition and see what they use as tags. When you search "rag doll" check out the items that show up on page one and see what their item title is and what their tags are. You can then try to emulate what other successful shops are doing. Good luck.

Do you list often? With almost 10,000 items for "rag doll", I am sure recency must play a part.

I have looked at other's tags etc. but they are usually about the same as what I've been tagging my items. Also, as far as how recent the listing is it doesn't seem to matter when you search according to "relevancy"?? I see many items from the same shops on the first and second page as well? I'm at a loss as to what to do.
