Question about potential customers and convos

A few days ago a person convo'd me about a hat she would love to buy, and wanted to know if she could send me the measurements, etc. 15 minutes later I got the message and immediately convo'd her back saying that was no problem I would love to do it, etc. So I haven't heard back, and am not sure if I should convo her again, or if this sort of thing happens all the time?

Re: Question about potential customers and convos

It happens quite frequently for me. Maybe 2-3 times a month. Give them some time, sometimes it just takes time for them to get back to you, or wait til payday or who knows. Or sometimes they just don't get back to you, which is lame. But whatever. :) I hope that she comes back though! I completely understand the frustration.

Re: Question about potential customers and convos

I have that happen probably once in awhile with my animals. I occasionally forget to put dimensions in the listing, and when they ask and I answer right away, I sometimes never hear anything again.

Sometimes people just aren't looking for what you're offering, but are too ashamed or embarrased or awkward to say "no, thanks."

Re: Question about potential customers and convos

Thanks! I think I will just leave it at the message I sent. I am starting to think she probably just changed her mind or found something else...which is ok, I just didn't want to overstep convo etiquette boundaries.

Re: Question about potential customers and convos

Don't give up hope entirely. This happens to me a lot too. Some one will convo me to get a quote on a larger quantity of thank you note cards and I never hear back. BUT just this week, I had a woman who requested a quote over a month ago (for save the date cards) contact me and say "ok, let's go ahead with the order". I posted her reserved listing this morning and she purchased them right away! You just never can tell...

Re: Question about potential customers and convos

I have had this happen to me a couple of times.
you get so excited thinking you have a sale then they don't contact you again :(
I just wait for a reply. One time someone got back to me after 2weeks and confirmed there order and then payed, so you never know.:)

Ok this gives me some hope! I definitely don't want to put someone off by too many convos, so I'll just let it be. Thanks guys!!

Re: Question about potential customers and convos

That happens to me often as well. A lot of people love to ask questions even though they aren't committed, so don't be offended when it happens! I just don't take it as an actual order until we are further in the process and they have paid. I actually had several convos today about possible orders that haven't finished yet! On the other hand, I have had people ask me a question and then purchase the product seconds after I have answered their question, so it can go both ways. :)

As for contacting them, I don't suggest it. They might take it as you prying to get a sale. The only time I have contacted them after a convo that ended abruptly was when I was doing a one day sale and I wanted to warn my customer that the sale was ending. They had talked to me in length about a custom order, so I just wanted to make sure she knew it was ending, but I still did not hear back. Again, there is no reason to be offended, remember we are in retail! :)
