Protection of Shop Content

This is a question about how to safeguard the content of your shop, ie: your own work, against unauthorized use by others.
I have recently had 2 of my lead images used by another shop without my knowledge or permission. Fortunately that situation has been resolved.
What strategies are there to protect yourself from things like this? After all, our shops are full of things we create ourselves. Any theft of images or content is a very personal attack. I would really love to hear what others do about it.

The best thing you can do is to place a watermark on your work that's hard to remove, but at the same time, not obstructive.

I place watermarks on all of my images with a light opacity.
