Promotion through blogs

I like reading a lot of fashion blogs and I have noticed some bloggers receive things from shops (not necessarily etsy stores...) for free. Then they either wear these said items or they just talk about the item on their blog.

This may seem like a few silly questions, but would this be apart of getting a sponsorship with the blog? Or is it something some people like to do to get their product noticed?

Just a weird thought really, but has anyone here considered doing/ done something like that?

People do this to get their name mentioned (and hopefully a positive review) in the blog. I have done giveaways as a way to get my product out there.

I have been wondering the same thing myself, as a couple opportunities have presented themselves where blogs ask for you to send a product before they write about it. I have been hesitant, glad I'm not the only one with the question! (Sorry, no answers for you, but wanted to thank you for posting this!)

It depends on the blog. You can pay to sponsor, and then they may include you in a giveaway or a post to promote your product. Some bloggers accept gifts from shops and if they like the item, then they may post about it -but usually don't make guarantees.

I've seen a couple vintage shops on some popular fashion blogs that usually sponsor the blog, and then do a giveaway for a gift certificate to the shop. It definitely would be great promotion.

I've done two blog giveaways before, and both brought in sales, and one a repeat customer. It's definitely something to try and see how it works for you. Make sure to really research the blog beforehand, and find one that has had successful vintage giveaways before if you're thinking about doing it.
