Promoting my shop through Facebook

I'm a bit backward regarding technology and don't have a facebook page, and was wondering about the value of setting one up with the aim of promoting my shop. Does anyone have any advice? Or if this has already been discussed (I'm sure it must have been!) is there a way of searching for relevant threads from the past ? Thank you in advance, I'm hoping to enter the 21st century soon (but seeing as though I'm still using a 100 year-old sewing machine, I won't hold my breath!!) ;)

Anyone? If it is too complicated to go into now, can you refer me to a good place to look....

Re: Promoting my shop through Facebook

It's pretty simple to open up a Facebook fan page -- just go to www.facebook.com and follow the steps! :)

It has helped my shop get sales, I think.
Here's mine: http://www.facebook.com/EllaBands

Social networking is definitely worth the effort!

Good luck!

Re: Promoting my shop through Facebook

I have one but I can't say that I have gotten any sales out of it. I will say that since Facebook is so popular its probably worth just doing it because it does get my products exposed to my friends and acquaintances who may not normally go on Etsy.

I would definitely do a facebook fanpage. It's free marketing which I've found hard to come by. It's also a great place to connect with customers, and always update about new products!

good luck to you!

Re: Promoting my shop through Facebook

I also recommend setting up a facebook page. I am new to etsy (selling for a month). I find facebook as an easy way to communicate to 1. the people you already know and 2. to the people who know your friends.

Through facebook, I was able to tell my family (who I do not speak to that often) and friends that I am now in business. You can link your Etsy pages to your facebook to publicize to all your "friends" that you have a new product.

Plus, now my family and friends are adding a link to my Etsy site, so all their friends are seeing my business.

Good luck to you!!

I say do it. It can only help you!

Re: Promoting my shop through Facebook

I personally consider myself a dino when it comes to all the technology out there. with that said, I don't have a facebook. Lot of people swear by it, but it's all on you. I have a twitter and just recently began a blog, which are keeping me busy enough as it is. So, I recomend for you to take baby steps and don't overwhelm yourself. Learn one social media at a time and invest the most time on your store and products. Hope this helps:)
