Printer Question

Do you print your own prints, photos, or giclee prints? If so, which printer do you use? I'm finally in a financial position to purchase my own high quality printer for small prints and giclees for my paintings, rather than send the order out. I'd really appreciate suggestions.

These are top contenders:

Epson Artisan 1430 Wireless Wide-Format Color Inkjet Printer

Epson Stylus Photo R2880 Wide-Format Color Inkjet Printer

Epson Stylus Photo R1900 Large Format Photo Printer (C11C698201)

Thank you for your thoughts!

Re: Printer Question

I guess it depends on a few things. The 1430 is half the price and 6-ink compared to 8-ink. It doesn't offer the high-gloss ink but I prefer a matte so that wouldn't be a deal breaker for me. So right off the bat you'll be saving $300. (That'll buy about 3 rounds of ink!) I like it prints borderless images and it's 5760 x 1440 dpi just like the others.

I've read the reviews on the Epson site and people who gave it less than 5 stars have odd reasons like "it's new so I only gave it 4.." or "It's larger than my old printer I gave it 4 stars.." Weird.

We use the Epson Stylus Photo R2880 at my office and I've found sometimes the color prints a little darker than I was expecting, it's a bit more maintenance keeping up with 8 inks as well. But they describe it on the website with words like "RadianceTM technology" and "UltraChrome" so it sounds like the superhero of printers.

Happy shopping and let us know which one you go with!

Re: Printer Question

Caitlin, thank you so much for your feedback. I know this is not a simple question.

You said you use the Epson Stylus Photo R2880. What do you use it for? Only photography or printing giclee's as well? I really need a printer than will do both (if possible). Thanks, again!

Other opinions?

Re: Printer Question

Just for photographs, no giclee's. I've been looking into printers lately as well so I know how overwhelming it is.
