Posting and zero views?

A question on views? I haven't really been listing in awhile but recently started listing a few items in my shop again.
Before when I would list an item it would at least get a few views the day I listed it.
I listed something back on the 13th and again today about 12 hours ago and still 0 views?
I know about tags but did something change and I just missed something? now I do notice about 1/2 of my views are from Goggle not Etsy.
Thanks for any advice

Re: Posting and zero views?

Nothing big has changed, as far as I know. My views on new listings have not been exactly stellar lately, either. So I hear, it is generally a slow time of year for retail.

Re: Posting and zero views?

Noticed it's been very slow in views and sales, slower than usual. It must be the time of year...

Re: Posting and zero views?

Same thing happened to us, we posted three items about two weeks ago and another three this weekend, there was a definite difference in the number of views we got!

Re: Posting and zero views?

Happens to me very often. Try promoting on other sites: twitter, pinterest, wanelo fb etc.

Re: Posting and zero views?

That is totally normal on Etsy.
Just posting an item does not mean it will be seen.
There are a gazillion shops here.
You will have to make your items visible, by SEO, marketing and promoting.

Re: Posting and zero views?

Have you checked to see where your items fall in a search for "fabric banners" on Etsy? I did a quick search and out of of 6462 fabric banners I could not find yours in the first couple of pages. Not that you have to rank that high but it may explain why your not getting found.

Re: Posting and zero views?

thanks everyone.
Just weird I used to get views with the same tags on the first day at least.
Maybe need to mix up the tag words a bit

Re: Posting and zero views?

Mandy, there is no such thing as 'normal' views per item.
It depends on what YOU do to make the item be viewed.
Some aspects:
- great pictures
- desirable products
- good use of keywords (= SEO)
- your marketing efforts
- your promoting efforts

Etsy is 'just' a selling platform on which we run our own shops. WE have to bring in our customers.

PS: I disagree that January is a slow month.
I have been selling here since 2006 and January is usually an average or slightly above average month for me. Views are back to what they were right before the Holidays shopping season.
But again: it all depends on what we do to attract those viewers/buyers.

Re: Posting and zero views?

For my shop, there is no rhyme or reason to view counts. Sometimes I get 12 views a day then sometimes I get 150 views. I rarely make a sale. I promote all the time.

I just keep plugging away at it until hopefully I get more regular sales. If I can just make one sale a week, it would be amazing!

Re: Posting and zero views?

Katie, jewelry is a very saturated market on Etsy (and everywhere else).
So you have to work hard to stand out from the crowd.
What exactly, for instance, do you mean by "I promote all the time"?
Do you have a marketing plan? Did you find your target market and are you promoting directly to them (= marketing)? Or are you posting your listings randomly on social networking sites (not to your target market, but to your friends and family)?
Having your items found involves a lot of work.
