Pinterest The new Traffic Generator! -Really?

Hey!
I heard a lot that now Pinerest is The New biggest traffic generator for Etsy?!
Is it really true? Does it work for you?

I'm just wondering why it does not work for me- I don't see any traffic form pinterest in my esty shop stats.

I have received 12 sell from Pinterest before Xmas...
Maybe just a coincidence or surprise for hot season...I don't know...
But as I see it's not bad from my shop stats...It works for me!

I receive a couple views a week from pintrest nothing major. But it is a great way to network.

I think a lot of people are forgetting that Pinterest is was not created to be a free marketing tool. If you pin your Etsy items on Pinterest, you're taking the chance that people will repin in a way that you don't like (DIY, etc.). It's the nature of the beast. Most people on Pinterest use it because it's fun and to keep their ideas organized, not to buy. So many people here on Etsy try to use it as a marketing tool and then get disappointed when nothing comes of it.

Personally I tried out Pinterest and didn't really have much success, got a couple of repins but that was it. I pinned items from other shops as well as my own onto the same board to try and promote others more than myself and I don't know whether or not they have had views from it but I know I haven't. I think I'll stick to my twitter and facebook

I recieve views from Pintrest, but I have never posted my own items from my store.

The majority of the things I post are from my Etsy favorite list, and they get repinned a lot.

Celia, you might try doing a combination of pinning your own things and pinning other people's things. I have quite a few pinboards of my interests, but I also have three pinboards of items from my shop. That way my stuff is still making its way over to Pinterest, but I'm not ONLY pinning my own things.

Someone pinned one of my onesie and I got almost 2000 hits in a day! It was crazy! They were NOT gawkers.. they were buyers. Guess you just have to cross your fingers and hope the right person pins your item. Good luck!!!

Even when I only get a few from pinterest, it is still exposure and takes only moments to do. I do not usually post my own items except as a must repeat thing.

I still haven't find out how to make pinterest work for me.
I have joined pinterst teams and actually I really like pinning and I do it a lot - but somehow I can't figure it out how it can help my shop.

Pinterest has got me a few pins, but no sales, I recieve 1 or 2 views from it everyday though.
I mainly use it for inspiration....

Somehow I use pinterest as self inspiration boards/ bookmark of interesting stuff in stead of use it as promotion for etsy shop. I believe the best way of promoting still keep within etsy community.

I get a ton of traffic from Pinterest to my website. I feature Etsy items for babies and kids mostly, though. Pinterest definitely is viral for those items, diy, tutorials, beauty, and wedding stuff.

Just like Etsy's search ads... some categories perform better than others, and it depends on who you follow and who follows you- aka your reach.

Search for Pinterest teams. There is at least one, and maybe a few, I think. They are great!

I pin a lot and sometimes pin my own items. Pinterest asks that you keep self-promotion to a minimum, and I think I do since the majority of what I pin isn't my stuff. I usually get pretty decent responses to my pinned items. Of course, wedding and geeky things tend to get repinned most. I get quite a few views from Pinterest, but most of the time people just repin or like something, they don't always follow the link. When I pinned my cake toppers though my views from Pinterest went through the roof though.

I had 1000 views from one pin this weekend. I usually get a few views a day from Pinterest, but this was amazing. I tracked the pin to a "power pinner" with 600000 followers repinned from a shop customer's original pin. Just luck, but it was a great boost for me in getting my new shop noticed.

I used to pin all of my items, but rarely got any views from it. I get far more oils views a day than pinterest! I think it depends on what you have though. Shops that sell prints with funny quotes and such do great with pinterest!
